Ace!
It is finally here--the first release by the Seeing Eye Lemmings, “i run”(2006, Neutral Ground Records and Productions). “i run” is an unusually transcendent album. The record is cathartic and moving, timeless and sensational, heavy, raw and memorable. The CD is a decade in the making, and--aside from the first track--was recorded on consumer level equipment in our basement and living room studios--it is the real deal! That said--the Seeing Eye Lemmings are everything that made you fall in love with rock and roll in the first place. It is tension and release, hooks and anthems, music that feels at once both mysterious and yet familiar. You will remember where you were when you first heard this band. Rarely does such visionary songwriting meet such prodigious chops and become infused into the soul of a band. For hookiness, incendiary songwriting, supernatural performances, and sheer memorableness, this record stands beside the greatest rock albums ever recorded and deserves to claim its’ place in American rock history. Visit http://www.seeingeyelemmings.com for your copy, today. The Seeing Eye Lemmings are the creation of Songwriter Al Kakoczky, and Lyricist Whitehouse. The band was founded in Ann Arbor, Michigan, in October 1994, a few months after a near-death experience inspired one founder to stop drinking. The album finds many of its themes in this near-miraculous recovery, and is infused with gratitude, hope and spiritual energy. The Seeing Eye Lemmings are a top-notch LIVE band, with many years of experience on stage. The material lends itself very well to live interpretations, and has been well received by its audiences. This is dynamic progressive rock with funky psychedelic undertones. The music is characterized by Kakoczkys’ spirited and inventive guitar playing-alternatively primal and intense, deep and mellow or playful and flippant. The lyrics are profound word pictures that encourage visualization and provoke thought. These words are felt as much they are heard. Together, these two elements define the experience that is the Seeing Eye Lemmings. The new album by the Seeing Eye Lemmings--”i run” breaks ground on several levels. First, it has a very natural and organic sound with a minimalist sort of production. For aesthetic and technical reasons, we decided not to attempt to remove certain “imperfections” which are now quirks of the production, lending to its interest and authenticity. It is real, and the audience understands, appreciates and responds to its’ purity. This album also breaks ground with lyrics that are at once challenging and evocative, but ambiguous enough to invite personal interpretation--thus engaging the listener. The subjects of the songs are difficult ones--Addiction, Suicide, Death and Hope--and are conveyed with a generosity that is characteristic of those who have lived through such experiences. Put all of these elements in one package--exceptional songwriting, enthusiastic performances, memorable lyrics and mystique-- and what do you get? Music For The Ages. A STYLE; Progressive Rock, with funky, psychedelic undertones, some old-school vibe, evocative lyrics, and adventurous musical movements. The lyrical songs have a timeless quality-- deep and engaging. The performances are skillful and expressive, and straight from the heart. AN IMAGE; The map is not the territory, it has been said. Our playful name belies the often intense emotional currents that our songs generate, like the surface of a river fails to convey its raging, deadly pull. We like to let the music do the talking, though visuals set the stage--ponderous images that convey some of the bands’ mystique and humour. AN EXPERIENCE; to shake the walls and get you moving, to grip your heart, to transport you to a different place, a magical place where happy endings are still possible, where Love is untainted, where souls are in rythym and in time with one another. It sounds like as if Bob Dylan met Steely Dan, worked with arrangements done by Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, and U2 and were Produced by Daniel Lanois and YES with a little assistance from Bob Ezrin. Yeah, it's kinda like that!
