Mette Skou is a Danish singer and pianist who started her personal songwriting and played her first gig with her own materiel in Los Angeles in 2006. After this everything went very fast for the young musician with several more gigs, a tour in Colorado as backup singer for a west coast-based folk band, performances with various jazz and pop players and a lot of inspiration from the life in Hollywood.
Though some people and music industry agents in L.A. had great expectations to her as an upcoming Scandinavian female singer, she didn’t feel ready and after a year she returned to Denmark to live and study music in Copenhagen and to become a part of the city's lively music scene.
In the fall 2008 Mette visited Aarhus Lydstudie for the first time and she instantly felt that she had to spend some time there together with some of the best musicians she knows. Though these musicians are spread over several countries, a guitarist in Los Angeles and drummer in Stockholm, they all managed to meet up in August 2009, in a summerhouse south of Aarhus. Here they rehearsed and arranged, together with producer Valente Bertelli, ten of her songs and after that, spent eight days in Aarhus Lydstudie recording the album. The songs were subsequently sent to the US and Canada for post-production (in L.A.) mixing (in Vancouver) and mastering (in Colorado).
