THE GENESIS OF JP LIME
Begun as the abstract artistic union between two Boston natives, Professa and Spaceman in the Fall of 2000, JP Lime Productions is a multi-media, cross-genre company built on unique ideals of Family, Accountability, Productivity and the Power of a Dream. Upon its inception, Prof and Space immediately shared this new dream to Cowboy, Milky, and Dr. Giggles and the group identity was born in earnest. Instilled with a desire to create something new, a desire to change and improve the world around them, a desire to take their place on the world stage, the five began the process of developing such projects as a screenplay (Rufus Zooted), a late-night television series (Late Night with Genghis Knight), and a documentary series (Life Beyond the B.S.). The group's musical endeavors, specifically Hip Hop, continued to boil beneath the surface, lacking a production up to that point.
Space, Milky, and Cowboy had begun learning to freestyle while Prof remained a poet / writer and Giggles showcased his talents as a the group's sound and video technical advisor - all while keeping that Lime vibe fun and fresh. By March of 2005, JP Lime's musical path was solidified considerably with the additions of long time high school friends PassThat, Scholar, and Lady Lime. A strong, versatile, and driven roster of six MCs, one female singer and one male singer was ready to take the world by storm.
JP Lime found a preliminary recording outlet in Amherst, MA before taking their tracks to Boston Butta Beats (aka Triple B Recording - Everett, MA). The band has recently been recording music at Indecent Music in Medford, MA (www.indecentmusic.com), and producing films at the Cable Access Station in Foxboro, MA. 'JP Lime - A Brand For Life', the band's first official video release, along with the Foxboro studio performance series can be found here on Myspace as well as on YouTube.
THAT SUPERCLASSIC SOUND
JP Lime's music knows no boundaries, as evident by the fun, high energy party vibe of "Blow the Speakers," and "Booty Booty Bang Bang," the soulful pop energy of 'This is Life' and the raw power of the politically charged 'Sound The Alarm.' Driven by the forces of six different and independently potent rhyming styles, the group hails a stylistic comparison to Wu-Tang Clan meets Outkast meets the Doors. The Beatles of Hip Hop, Rap's true Grateful Dead, this group is poised to supply a potent and much-needed voice to the city of Boston, the culture of Hip Hop, and music as a whole. The Revolution has arrived, so open your ears, hearts, and minds - JP Lime is here to stay!
IT'S LIME TIME BABY
The band is currently promoting their first official release, 'Lime On The Rocks', on sale now through their myspace site (www.myspace.com/jplime) or by emailing the group at [email protected]. The album features vocal and production contributions from some of the Northeast's finest musical talents. The list includes: Boston / Atlanta based super producer Street Justice of Street Warrior Productions, Henny Rock of Indecent Music (www.indecentmusic.com), Vermont's Darth Robb, Boston's DJ LSP and Prince Taj of Flawless Kings Productions / LocoOne Etertainment, Seattle's DJ Endub, New York's JK, and Doctor Holmes of Helekwom Records.
Every Tuesday Spaceman hosts “Tuesday Nights with Colgan†aka "Touch Me Tuesdays", an open mic night located at the Phoenix Landing in Cambridge, MA. Begun in the Spring of 2008 as a karaoke night, Tuesdays is now one of the fastest growing open mic nights in the Boston area. Come find us and prepare to shine.
JP Lime was recently showcased on 'Ego Trippin' Part 2' (WUML - Lowell, MA). Their material has been featured on Jive Cuttah's mix cd compilations, 'Alternate Perceptions' volumes 2 and 3 and upcoming contributions to Notsob Entertainment's 'Patriot State' mix cd are in the works as well.
ROCK THE MIC
Fueled by consciousness, originality, and a passion to both rock the crowd and put on a memorable show, JP Lime's masterful fusion of talent, personalities, energy, and sound has become their on stage signature. JP Lime has performed at various locations in the Greater Boston area, including The Paradise Lounge, McGann's, All Asia, The Phoenix Landing, The Worthen Attic, The Western Front, UMass Boston, Boston College, The Milky Way and recently Worcester's Tammany Hall. They've also performed at Crossroads Bar and Grill and Job Corps in Vermont.
