About Me

Hello from Elgin Samaritans!
Feeling low? Need someone to talk to? Elgin Samaritans are available to provide confidential emotional support 24 hours a day.
You can call us on 01343 543000 or 08457 90 90 90. You can also contact us by email on [email protected].
Our base at 21 Greyfriars Street, Elgin IV30 1LF is open to callers with appointment, so just come along if you prefer to talk face to face.
If you like, you can also write to us. Our postal address for letters is:
Chris
PO Box 9090
Stirling
FK8 2SA

Please note that we're not currently able to offer support for messages sent via MySpace!
Are you interested in volunteering for us? Samaritans is entirely dependent on voluntary support. It's a challenging experience and it can be very rewarding, knowing that you may have made a difference. We'd love to hear from you.
As well as being run entirely by volunteers, we also rely entirely on donations to keep going. Every call we answer costs us, on average, £2.47, and it costs £125 just to keep the branch open for 1 day. Without donations we simply can't function. So, if you can spare any change, or if you have an awesome idea for a fundraising event.
"Samaritans is here for anyone who feels they need emotional support at any time of the day or night.
"It can be a difficult time, especially for. those who may have lost someone close, for the elderly living alone, and for people living far away from their own families, including people working here who are from abroad."
Last year, 92%'of contacts to Samaritans were by phone - a total 2.4million calls in all. In 2007,as for every day of every year, the lines are open 24/7.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

Anyone who wants to talk. We're here to listen! We provide confidential emotional support, 24 hours a day, for people who are experiencing feelings of distress or despair, including those that may lead to suicide. You don't have to be suicidal to call us, though - we're here for you if you're worried about something, feel upset or confused, or you just want to talk to someone.

We'd also like to meet anyone interested in volunteering at our branch - there are around 30 volunteers here, but we're always looking for new members to join the team. We're a diverse and interesting bunch of people!

And, of course, we'd also like to meet anyone interesting in donating some spare change... if you can help us, or if you have a great idea for a fundraising event, please get in touch!
