A Wall was born September 12, 1988 in Brookdale Hospital. A Wall is a young hip hop artist, whose rapping career began at the age of 11. Anthony “A-Wall” Alston started out battling at the lunch tables in school. He than caught the attention of older rappers who lived in his building. During his early teens A Wall started hustling, selling everything he can get his hands on, from weed, to crack cocaine.
At the age 15, A Wall attended Automotive High School in Brooklyn, New York. He only attended Automotive for his freshman year. He than got tired of school and decided he will do whatever it takes to get money. That is when he started robbing and stealing. Over the months A Wall was arrested for robbery and assault. He was sentence to 18 months in a Juvenile Correctional Facility. A Wall was released at the age 17, when he than joined a gang. He then started committing violent acts towards other gang members. These activities include gang fights, hood rivalries, and multiple shoot outs.
At age 18, A Wall was arrested again for attempted murder. This charge was later dropped to assault with a deadly weapon. A Wall spent 1 month on Rikers Island awaiting his court date. During A Wall stay he met a guy who talked him into taking his rapping more seriously. When his court date arrived, the charge was dropped in the grand jury. A Wall came home with his mind focusing on nothing but rap.
When he came home A Wall linked up with his childhood friend, Gwapo. Together they were in the studio mostly everyday making hit after hit. They then came to the decision of making a mixtape, The People Choice vol. 1. This was a very successful mixtape which sold over 50,000 in the streets and still selling. “I couldn’t believe it, I felt like it wasn’t real” A Wall remembered.
After moving 50,000 units A Wall felt he can achieve anything. He then decided he will take rapping to another level so he, his friends and family can move from the mean streets of Brownville. “Once I get signed I'm going to always come back to show love” A Wall stated. A Wall and his childhood friend did several free shows in N.Y and in G.A. The 2 of them now have several singles which include: “Do It Like That”, “Heart Of A Thug” and “Let Me Know Wassup”. Together they call themselves KeyBack Double Kingz.
A Wall wants to do many things once he enters the music industry. He wants to accomplish things such as starting a promotion company which helps unsigned artist get notice. He also wants to be able to record with artists he looked up to while growing up who includes but not limited to, Jay Z, Fabolous, M.O.P, 50 Cent, Cassidy and Larsiny Family, etc. “I wanna get money, and make ma parents proud” A Wall said.
Gwapo is a young rap artist who is like no other. Akeem “Gwapo” Walker was born February 22, 1989. The young rapper, began to rap at the age of 11. When he first started he didn’t know how to write a full verse, chorus, hook, or bridge. So many of his old raps seems to go on and on. But over time he began to bring everything together. His childhood wasn’t as hard as others. But during his early teens he fell into the trap of “the streets”.
Growing in the Brownsville section of Brooklyn, Gwapo started hanging out late, selling drugs, joined a gang and stopped attending his high school Teachers Preparatory. At this point in his life he wasn’t trying to hear anything anyone was trying to tell him, except his friends. His mother and family talked to him over and over about the life he was living. It wasn’t until a friend of his was tired of that lifestyle that he decided to stop. After he was done with the streets, Gwapo began to take rapping more seriously.
Gwapo and his right hand man were in the studio almost everyday, making hits each time they stepped in the booth. They used websites such as myspace and youtube to promote themselves. The duo then realized how many songs they actually had and decided release a mixtape, The Streets Choice vol. 1. That mixtape was self promoted and sold over 50,000 copies and is still selling. “That was back in ‘06. I felt like I just came off tour” Gwapo remembered.
While all this going on Gwapo started really started seeing the environment in which he lived. He decided to work hard so he can get signed and move. “Once I get signed I’m going to always come back“. Gwapo stated. That was when he started making music videos and doing shows. Some of his videos and an exclusive interview can be found at Youtube.Com/HoodSpittazP. He did several free shows early in his career, now he gets paid to perform. He and his friend has many hit singles, his most recent are called “Do It Like That”, “Heart Of A Thug” and “Let Me Know Wassup”. The artist of the singles names are Key Back Double Kingz, which means Gwapo and a childhood friend A Wall.
Gwapo wants to accomplish many goals once he enter the music industry. “I just want to take the game to a level it aint never seen before” said Gwapo. Some of the things he wants to accomplish follows; he wants to start his own record label, help under privilege children, speak with young males and females to hopefully prevent them from doing what he once did.
