About Me
I'm saxophonist David Brandom, and I've made a career of adapting my sound to a wide variety of musical settings, jazz and otherwise. Originally from the Kansas City area, I've made New York my home for the past 23 years, playing, writing, and teaching jazz and commercial music. My versatility and open attitude have made me one of New York's most in demand saxophonists and woodwind doublers. What I enjoy most is writing and playing my own jazz compositions. You can hear a couple of takes from my first CD, "Home" which came out in 2002 on this MySpace page. I've just released a second CD of my music entitled, ""No Way Out" on the Blujazz Label and you can pick it up at Blujazz, or through CDBaby or most other music outlets. The new CD features 7 new tunes of mine and trumpeter, Scott Wendholt, pianist Gary Versace and guitarists, Steve Cardenas and Jay Azzolina. Besides working with my own group, I'm really digging being a member of the Westchester Jazz Orchestra, along with trumpeters, Marvin Stamm and Jim Rotondi, pianist, Ted Rosenthal and bassist, Harvie S. and new musical director, Mike Holober. WJO's first CD "All In" came out in the Fall of 2007. Over the years, I've worked with some great talent: Randy Brecker, Bill Charlap, John Faddis, Vic Juris, Frank Sinatra, Natalie Cole, Tony Bennett, James Taylor, Sting, Billy Joel and many others. Over the past decade I've played a ton of Broadway Shows including: Annie Get Your Gun, Chicago, Grease, Hairspray, In the Heights, Jersey Boys and, and..... Right now I teach at Purchase College located in Purchase New York in it's prestigious Jazz Studies Program, and at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA. I hope you'll check out my music. I think you'll dig it! Peace!
