Band Members: Wanna' be a Buzzard? It could happen. I'm sick of doing only solo shows! These fine people appear on Redux: Craig Mesco Drums - Von Radics Drums - Michael Brown Bass/Singing - Jeff Zundel Bass - John Maxwell Guitars - Tammy Gallardo Singing -The Many Beths and Michelles Choir appeared courtesy of EEMS Records.Special Thanks to: Bob Pagano @ Mountain View, Doug Hill of Mental Records@ 60 Psycho Hum, Jeff Ocheltree
Influences: Grace Paley, Randy Newman, Paul Simon, Marshall Crenshaw, the first few Rod Stewart records. Those are some you might not know by listening.I don't care for southern rock generally but I love the first few Lynyrd Skynyrd records. My wife turned me on to the Replacements within hours of our meeting...one of many wonderful gifts.. but I don't care much about their punk records. I like Let It Be and Tim. Oh, and I love the Lemonheads pop records and only those. In fact I distrust people who pledge allegiance to punk or tie much of their identity to any style of music. Looks a little desperate and confused to me.I'll take the weird ugly sweet Joey over Saint Strummer any day. Never Mind the Bollocks was just ok.My first favorite song was "Tired of Being Alone" by Al Green. Right now I think it's "Carolyn" by Lee Feldman but maybe it's "Pamphleteer" by the Weakerthans.I love Bright Eyes, and Iron and Wine. There's a churchy subtext to a lot of 'indie' that kinda creeps me out.The Waterboys once made a really good record.Joan Osborne looked like a goddess when she was here at Britt five months pregnant and singing with the Funk Brothers. I love her new record and if you don't own "Relish" there's every chance your one of those precious boors who only listen to 'cool' music. My Broadway geek kids are starting to get me interested in musicals. Not too crazy about Duncan Sheik so far, though.I love classical music but am woefully ignorant with respect to who wrote what when. One of my first musical jobs involved attending about 25 Bluegrass festivals. I love that music and admire the best musicians in that field as much as the giants of bop which is the most important music of the 20th Century, duh.Blah blah blah.... I'm done with this.
Sounds Like: Your gonna' get a Keith Richards style Tele whomp up side your idiot fuckin' head if you start talking to me about why McCain and Palin are the more Christ centered ticket you greedy deluded superstitious piece of shit.

Collings

I bought a 1964 Gibson Dove almost 20 years ago. It was my second choice. I was bowled over by a 1969 Martin D 28  but couldn't imagine spending $5000 on a guitar. That Dove is a beautiful guitar...

Sitting in the back of my car

Ok, not my car. A rented limo  that my dear Z friends rented so none of us would have to drive in the crappy weather the night of the DM3 show in GP. Our new buds John and Mary Ellen filled out t...

catalyzed is a mood? - apples and oranges

Will Kimbrough's Americanitis is genius. Here's a funny lyric from 'Pride': I'm not bashing Jesus but how about we read what Jesus said for once? I say for balance we take in a little Buddha and Johnn...

Mapquest -Bend, Portland & Arkansas

So... many people, maybe most people, already know this... Mapquest is not a wise choice as a sole reference with regard to the best route from one place to the next. I'm happy I took 97 to 26 from Be...

So I spent  about 30 hours in the Bay Area last weekend. I slept for about 13 of them. I drove for about 12 of them. I played music for about 4.5 of them (wrote most of a song with Jim Bruno, tra...
