Pathetic Joe and Joscar Wilde

We're on the Eastern side of a deep depression

About Me

Brabant's Bad Boy PATHETIC JOE and Limburg's Lonesome Cowboy JOSCAR WILDE met in 1997 at Leuven's university restaurant Alma (where the Sex Pistols performed in 1976 before they were famous). One year and many literary and musical parties later, they decided to play and record a 90-minute Maxell cassette, only using their voices, a piano, a broken toilet and an empty wine bottle (for percussion). The result was their first experimental underground bluesalbum, conveniently titled 'Pulling Myself Through The Toilet' (1998). They continued with the playful and energetic 'Rest In Greenpeace' (1999) and their megalomaniac magnum opus 'The White Albinum' (started in 1999, still unfinished). In between PJ and JW performed live in different cities and villages such as Leuven, Roeselare and Paris. Mostly playing their own compositions, they also performed highly idiosyncratic versions of songs by a whole range of different creatures like Jacques Brel, Kylie Minogue, Tom Waits, Neil Young, Sylver, Eddy Wally, Gigi D'Agostino, John Frusciante, Nirvana, The Beatles, The Stones, François van Campenhout, etc. They shared the stage with embryonic line-ups of Lenny en de Wespen and Buurman. They played their most memorable groundbreaking concerts in Café Charlatan at the Oude Markt in Leuven.Except for musicians both men are also excellent poets, enthusiastic cycling fans and crazy princes of fuckin' darkness. If you think most of today's music is either too commercial or too underground, maybe you can hire them. Look for them in Leuven's nightlife...
