About Me

Glitter balls, retro clothing and adventures in make-up… that’s Mizzie. Four on the floor, ambient energy and tunes with all the flourish of a Class of 83 disco… that’s Mizzie too. Eternal hopes, high ideals and a passion for more than just life’s sugary treats… that’s Mizzie as well. Singer, dancer, performer and all-round gem in the making. After touring the world as a founding member of power pop act Raze, Mizzie’s familiar with the way things work. Together they sold over 300,000 records, won four Dove awards and preformed to hundreds of thousands of fans around the world. This time it’s a solo future that she’s crafting for herself, with her new project, Fairytale Disco, getting ready to… well, let’s just say that it’s going to be good, really good.Vibrant, vivacious and unconventional, the world according to Mizzie is one with the colour turned up high and the electro-pop ramped to the max. Within her electronic wonderland lies a deeper message of faith and love. Straying from the usual superficial lyrics of the genre Mizzie laces her music with enthusiastic inspiration. When her high vitamin vocal sounds launch themselves into your head you’ll find your heart touched, reconfigured and lifted up once more. Take a listen to ‘Touch The Sky’ – Mizzie’s anthem of self-belief - or ‘Be Love’ - her challenge to change your world – and you’ll be one of the ranks of followers whose response begins with a serious bout of spontaneous twitching, shape throwing and general all-round good feeling. For Mizzie dance is her first love. But not being the silent kind, as passion for music made a career in the studio and on the stage a perfect partnership.“I want to make music that makes people get up and dance. There have been so many times on a bus or a living room when a song has helped me bond with people I don’t have much in common with. There is something about hearing a groove that I can’t sit down to and seeing that someone else can’t sit down to it either. It reiterates a positive feeling of oneness with the world, that I can exist outside myself, and that I am not alone and all this without even speaking a word. I find that so powerful.’Having made the decision to take a break from the industry following the decline of Raze, Mizzie married, moved to London and turned to study. “I wanted to work in the real world and experience the things I hadn’t been able to during Raze. I danced professionally and modeled. Going to castings was such an eye opening experience to the cloud of want that most people walk under daily. The void in life is everywhere. I met some amazing people during that time that took me under their wings and showed me the ropes of the London dance world. Most of them non-Christians reached out to me even though I was 1.Foreign, and 2. A Christian. I wanted to share my faith with these people in a way they could relate to. To make music they could dance to that was encouraging. Music that floated through the air with grace and care raising up all that would hear it.”And so the tunes and the tempo picked up, swiftly evolving into the sequined wonderland that is Fairytale Disco. Accessorized by an eccentric DJ and two dynamic dancers, Mizzie’s live show blends the influences that have helped shape her: a little Kylie fused with Gwen spiced with a little Goldfrapp. It’s about performing, about connecting with people, giving them more than just a tune to hum in their heads as they leave the building.
