Band Members: So many...We sort of formed a loose cooperative of some of the best musicians in Muncie, Indiana. The music scene here is really great! I will try to name names, but so much time has elapsed that I may forget a few. Please do not be offended. Just contact me and say, "Hey! Aren't I playing on that song? Anyway, here goes: Thanks especially to Dave Helms for producing...spending countless hours with us in the studio explaining stuff and attempting to do things he knew were impossible. Sometimes we even did 'em. Thanks to bass players Dave Hofherr, Dave Spangler, and Rick Dwenger. A really big thanks to Greg Tanner who contributed some killer lead guitar lines. Also thanks to Jamie Johnson who contributed his tasteful leads on some songs. Jeff Gant added rhythm guitar here and there. Thanks to Abby for her innovative harmonies on Wind and Fire. Thanks to Doc Peterson for keyboard on Pony Girl and for letting us jam out in his nightclub, Doc's, on Wednesdays. Thanks to Scott Walker for his high harmony on Pony Girl. Wish I'd used your guitar virtuousity, too, Scott. Thanks to everyone at the Muncie Music Center for all their support and credit. I wrote all the songs except for Eye of a Rainbow. Terri wrote that when she was 17. We recorded in '95 and '96. No CD has ever been released. I ran out of money before that was accomplished. Hence, the focus now on selling downloads. The collaboration is in the arrangements of each song. I gave each musician free rein in terms of their input subject to my control during the editing process. "Easy Lady" has only one studio musician (the bass player, Dave Spangler). On that one I play 12-string guitar rhythm, and lead on my Les Paul. I had to curb Banjo Randy on that one by running his banjo through a phase shifter. He could not understand that I did not want all the songs to sound like bluegrass. On "Cut to the Chase" and "Wind and Fire" I play rhythm 12-string guitar. Greg Tanner (a good and long-time friend) plays lead on both of those. Terri sings on all of the songs (though not always as I asked her to) because they are all about her, and worked out most vocal arrangements with the exception of "Wind and Fire" due to the serendipitous addition of Abby (forgot her last name), a 19yr old vocal music major at BSU, who came up with that gorgeous background vocal and harmony out of the blue. I had definite ideas about how each song should sound when we went into the studio, but, once there, they seemed to take on a life of their own. "Cut to the Chase" is case in point. I went in with the idea of a Bob Segerish rock song and came out with something resembling the "Bonnie and Clyde" soundtrack. Now...I can't imagine the song any other way.Sincerely,Charlie (rhythm, lead, and vocals), Terri (lead vocals), Banjo Rando Harding (you guessed it--banjo), Belinda (fiddle/violin), and Mike Wedmore (drums)

The Music

This recording was a labor of love.  Each song was inspired by, hopefully, the higher aspects of the love that one human being can have for another.  It was amazing how each song developed o...
