Josh started the band in Oct. 2000 as drummer and vocalist with bass player Cody and then guitar player David. Something was missing, and that something was a guitar player who was worth something and some material that didn't sound like howling dogs. In 2001, the band added long-time friend Cory McCumber. Things switched around and David learned to play the drums, Cory played guitar, Cody stayed with the bass, and Josh went to vocals. The band played small parties and always thought about cracking down and getting serious, but they knew the formula was not yet complete, butthen, in the summer of 2005, Myk joined. That's when things took off, but not everyone in the band was ready. That summer, David quit the band. Things were getting way too serious. As the band tossed around ideas of a national tour, and played as openers for many national acts with a constant schedule, David decided that he wasn't ready to spend his life on the road and unfortunately left the band. Luckily, one of our biggest fans who was not only a close friend to guitarist Cory, but was also an excellent drummer. That's when Torn added current drummer, Casey Downs to the line-up.Since Torn's Official break-up at the star of 2008, guitarist Cory and vocalist Josh have since started a new project. The two shared a certain chemistry together seperate from that of Torn as a whole. Years of playing together and performing small acoustic sets after Torns seperation only strengthend this combination. The two had a common interest in music across al genres yet were both looking for something a little heavier as there next project. They have started a band called, "From The Ashes" as a reference to creating a brighter flame in the music world after the last group's glory all but burnt out. At this point, they continue to write music and search for new members who share their interests all in preperation to lead the music generation that will follow them in what's to come.
