My grandfather, Oscar Herman (1909-1980), a humorist and shoe salesman, inspired the creation of the Guide to Laughing Institute by the way he lived. His attitude and our conversations inspired a lifetime search to collect and organize humorous and insightful observations from influential people; and to share these thoughts so others can laugh and learn about life.Since the formal organization began in 1993, hundreds of people; friends, writers, editors, artists, educators, doctors, executives, and celebrities have helped shape the Guide to Laughing series.Thank you for your participation, The GTL Institute’s message will continue to grow through the shared wit and laughter of its members.Shawn Gold Co-Founder, GTL Institute
Find humorous and Insightful Observations that help us laugh and learn about a particular Montly subject.The observations should be gathered and edited by GTL Institute members as they find humor and insight in their everyday lives; from reading religious texts, novels, reference books, road signs, newspapers, magazines, and instruction manuals; listening to songs on the radio; watching plays, interviews, lectures, movies, TV shows and, from everyday conversations and experiences.
