Sistah Joyce hails from the Brittish Virgin Islands. This talented young empress is well grounded in her beliefs which she shares with her listeners through the conscious message in her songs. All the while, her complex and sweet melodies flow in harmony with the rootsy, heartical dancehall grooves laid down under them.
The Virgin Islands has produced a female reggae singer reminiscent of Rita Marley, Marcia Griffith and Judy Mowatt. In 2003 Sistah Joyce released her single "Haile Africa" which became a local hit on the Carribbean radio. In February 2004 she released a 4 song "EP" with her new label (SPM RECORDS), featuring the 1 hit song "Give JAH the Praises". In June 2004 she released a single with then 14-year-old Jamal of Mystical Youths from St. Croix. In July 2004 she released the BIG 15 track album entitled "H.Y.P.O.C.R.I.C.Y." (SPM Records, 2004)
Sistah Joyce recently followed-up her highly acclaimed previous album with "Freedom Sitee" (Naturasl Vibes/Het Heru Entertainment, 2006). This new disc again showcases Sistah Joyce's powerful vocal presence, strong lyrics and beautiful harmony arrangements. This album is produced by Ras L (who has worked with Vaughn Benjamin of Midnite on 2 albums).
