About Me
UCP Wheels for Humanity’s mission; Is to provide increased self-sufficiency, education and mobility to people with disabilities throughout the world, without
regard to political affiliation, religious belief or ethnic identity.
UCP Wheels for Humanity collects and refurbishes discarded wheelchairs and delivers and individually fits them to disadvantaged children and adults in developing countries. Since 1996, Wheels has helped more than 38,000 people with disabilities in over 68 countries gain increased mobility and dignity.
It is estimated that more than 100 million children and adults worldwide need wheelchairs and do not have them either due to lack of access, lack of money, or both. Their lack of mobility stems from accidents, birth defects, war injuries, debilitating diseases, aging, natural disasters and land mines. UCP Wheels for Humanity, is one of the few organizations of its kind that uses the expertise of volunteer Physical and Occupational Therapists and Certified Rehabilitation Technology Suppliers (CRTS) to individually fit clients to wheelchairs.
UCP Wheels for Humanity is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit based in North Hollywood, CA, U.S.A.
