Hey everyone, I'm Darus and I'm a Malaysian.
I was born on the 7th Muharram 1403 Hijra / 24th October 1982 which coincidentally is United Nations Day. I also share my birthday with Anton van Leeuwenhoek, a Dutch microbiologist who invented the microscope.
I like a lot of stuff but among my favourites include chemistry, astronomy, tennis, writing, jungle trekking, hiking up hills and both Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis.
My symbol is the Lion (狮子) and I use it with pride because lions are unafraid of anything. Compared to the much larger Tiger, the Lion will always attack from the front and never shy away from a challenge.
I'm also into politics and I was involved in the 12th Malaysian General Elections and a campaign officer for one of the candidates. As a Malaysian, I believe in multi-racialism and feel that the fact that Malaysia has so many different races actually makes it stronger because when you look at history, all the great empires of the world from the Romans and Persians to the Turkish Ottomans were all made strong by the fusing of different races and cultures into one big cohesive force.
On a more personal note, describing myself isn't easy. My "base code" is extremely complex and some of my behavioral patterns seem to overlap and be at odds with each other although somehow it seems to work just fine for me. How is that possible? Well, I'm friendly, helpful, optimistic yet arrogant (at times), adverse to advice and hard headed. When I make my decision on something, that decision stays because I have full confidence in myself.
But tell you what, hey, that's not really important sometimes isn't it? The most important thing is that we can somehow get together and click.
