A Vulgar Display Of Power

About Me

The world is a dangerous place to live; not because of the people who are evil, but because of the people who don’t do anything about it. - Albert Einstein Evil triumphs when good men do nothing. - Edmund Burke

True courage is not the absence of fear but the willingness to proceed in spite of it. - Unknown

The world is a better place because of good men who took action in spite of present danger. Thank you Jeffery "Mayhem" Thompson, Nathan Bray, and Erin Halk. Your legacy defines a hero!

A modern, true story of good’s triumph over evil.
When Heavy Metal guitarist Dimebag Darrell Abbott was attacked and murdered on stage on December 8, 2004 at the Alrosa Villa nightclub, it was Erin Halk, Jeff Thompson and Nathan Bray who lost their lives trying to save Dimebag and others from the attack of an armed madman. The focus of this story is squarely on the background of Halk, Bray and Thompson, in addition to the actions and motives of the killer. The book also painstakingly examines the incident at Alrosa Villa, as it occurred on the night of the murders. While we cannot change the end of the story, we can pay tribute to some wonderful men by telling it. A Vulgar Display of Power: Courage and Carnage at the Alrosa Villa is a deeply moving story that does an amazing job of honoring the memories of Jeff, Nate, Erin, and Darrell.

“Hey Chris, thanks for the telling this story. I'm sure Jeff's chapter will be great. Dad spoke highly of you. I'm sorry I didn't get to meet you when you were here in Arkansas.”
-Micah Thompson (Brother of Jeff "Mayhem" Thompson)

“You have always taken the high road and don't let anyone discourage you. I pray that you find encouragement each day. You have put your heart and soul into this project and I know you wrote it in the spirit of each young man. You are my angel that heaven sent. I look at you and see Erin's spirit. Please stay the course. All that is important is the intent of the book and the pride you bring all family members for writing it.”
-Margie Carvour (Mother of Erin Halk)

“Your book is going to be a beautiful thing for metal.”
-Mistress Juliya (Metal Personality, Sirius Satellite Radio, Formerly of Uranium on Fuse)

“I was there on December 8, 2004. I just wanted to say that I completely back your book and what you're trying to say- 100%, as I've been trying to say it for the past 2 years to anyone that asks me about it. I really hope this clears up a lot of misconceptions and rumors about our place due to the media, and I just wanted to say, thanks.”
-Brian (Alrosa Villa Employee)
