Lennart Heyndels was born on March 30th, 1990 and grew up in a musical minded family ( his mother is a classical piano teacher and his father is amateur pianist).
When he was 8 years old he was sent to the music academy in Mechelen. After a year solfege, he studied cello, but after 4 years he realized that cello wasn’t his instrument and he switched over to bassguitar.
In the comboclass of Tom Mahieu he discovered for the first time jazz and improvisation. On the age of 14 he started to play the double bass, he now is still studying classical bass with Peter Thys.
Since the summer of 2005 he gets more and more interested by jazz, and after a period of private lessons with Jo Wolfs, he followed jazz bass with Benny van Acker.
He also had the chance to get lessons with some of the finest bass players on this continent like Nic Thys, Christophe Devisscher, François Moutin and Hein Van de Geyn as well as from some other wonderful musicians like Ab Schaap, Hans Van Oost,...
He as attended masterclasses from Dave Liebman, Christophe Walemme, Nathalie Loriers, Enrico Pieranunzi, Mark Turner, John Hollenbeck, Jorrit Dijkstra,...
