About Me

I grew up in Cavalese, a beautiful mountain village in the heart of the Italian Alps, between Austria and Garda Lake and after spending there 18 years, I decided to move to a different (or maybe it would be better to say OPPOSITE) environment: Barcelona. Here I found a cool, sometimes mysterious, beautiful, sunny and cosmopolitan city although not so aggressive and more human fit that other European urban spaces. Honestly I have to say that sometimes I really miss the nature and the slow, peaceful reality in which my home village is immersed into. Since the age of 13 I was interested in electronic music and clubbing, mainly thanks to the only club present in my village,“EL MANARIN”, to which I went on Sunday afternoon. This club represented something really “vanguardist” and unique for the environment in which it was located due to its music policy, design and crowd and strongly influenced my perception of the club scene by the time: all the best underground Italian djs playing everything from italo-disco, to Chicago house, Acid House and sometimes more experimental down beat stuff had regular gigs at this club and every weekend different animation groups were doing live shows and performances that remember me the today’s “La Troya” shows in Amnesia or “Foc y Fum” which performs regularly at the Ibiza Closing Parties….They actually did back in 93 or 94 the first and only “12-hours” after-hours party ever seen in the all Region: this for the time and the local habits, believe me, was something really difficult to explain and to be imagined by people and I attended to it alone with 13 years curious to see what was going to happen “inside a club in the morning”, saying as an excuse to my parents that I was going to sleep to my best friend’s place…funny experience though !!! I started djing in 2001 when I bought my first equipment in Munich together with a friend, but it was until the summer of 2.005 that I took it more seriously and got the first gigs in Barcelona, first at some private parties and straight after doing my own parties under the name “WASABI” together with my friend Jordi in some bars and clubs like "Barroc", "Lekashbah" and "City Hall". Now we spin regularly together as Wasabi and in some occasions we play separately under our individual names.I was heavily influenced and introduced into modern pop music by my brother Fede when I was 7-8 years old: he made me listen to the albums of Duran Duran, Depeche Mode, Prince, Radiohead, The Cure and later in the 90's I got my first cds and mix tapes of italo-disco and house music from Italian Dj's, who were by the time pioneering the sound coming from UK and USA in my village’s club week after week, some names are Marco Dionigi, Walter S, Claudio Coccoluto and Joe T Vannelli... Moving to Bolzano to study my Degree in Business some years later, I started broadening my music collection buying downbeat, electronic, break beat, drum’n bass and trip-hop stuff from the likes of Portishead, 4 Hero, Peshay, Kruder&Dorfmesiter, Massive Attack, Orb, Orbital, Alex Gopher, Air, Saint Etienne etc. etc.In the last years, in correspondence with my first experiences in the club-nights and electronic festivals in Barcelona and around Europe like Tresor, Fabric, The End, Sonar, Monegros Festival, TDK cross Festival, Primavera Sound etc. I went first deep into the progressive-house sound coming from UK djs like Digweed, Lawler, Danny Howells or Lee Burridge and then I shifted gradually more and more into the sounds coming from Germany's labels like Kompakt, Perlon, Playhouse, Klang, Poker Flat & Co., more complex, details rich and adult I dare to say...Currently I list as my favourite labels Jay Haze's Tuning Spork, Freak'n Chic, Cadenza, Crosstown Rebels, Connaisseur, Rygular, Leftroom, Underline, Ovum, LTD-400, Diamonds&Pearls, District of Corruption, Treibstoff, Regular, Factor City, RebelOne…best dj’s are changing from season to season, but my 2.006 best gigs have been without any doubt with Luciano, Villalobos, Damian Lazarus, Ivan Smagghe and a great surprise some weeks ago in Portugal, Frank Maurel, this guy is really a wizard !
