Davina Morris is the Entertainment Editor for The Voice newspaper and also contributes to a number of publications, not only based in the UK, but also in Europe and the Caribbean. In addition, she has a wealth of radio experience, having conrtibuted entertainment news and taken part in discussions on stations including BBC London, BBC 1Xtra, Choice FM and LBC.In her six years of journalism experience, she has interviewed stars from the worlds of music, entertainment, film, arts and literature, such as Mariah Carey, Whoopi Goldberg, Kerry Washington, Damian Marley, Eric Jerome Dickey and many more. In addition to conducting celebrity interviews, she regularly attends music, theatre and film events, in order to provide reviews (and take advantage of the freebie gift bags!)In her earlier years of journalism, Davina’s experimental (ish) side led her to co-ordinate a series of blind dates, participate in a pole dancing class and take part in a high-energy fitness class– all in the name of reporting! Now, slightly older (she’s only 25!), she’s happier with more laid back excursions like sharing a coffee with soul star Anthony Hamilton, chatting on the phone to R. Kelly and even being left totally bemused after an interview with Hollywood star Terrence Howard. Also a bit of a jet-setter, Davina was commissioned to travel to South Africa in 2004 to report on the country’s internationally renowned Soweto Gospel Choir. In 2005, she travelled to St Lucia to cover the island’s 14th annual Jazz Festival. And in 2007, she travelled to Paris for a showcase by rising songstress Asa, and also to Amsterdam for the premiere of theatre production Afrika Afrika!Last year, she went to Memphis, USA to report on the 40th anniversary of the death of Civil Rights leader Martin Luther King. Being in Memphis- the birthplace of the Blues (and home to Elvis Presley's Graceland mansion)- also gave her the chance to learn about the city's musical heritage. Davina also went to Jamaica last year to attend the media launch for the 15th annual reggae festival Rototom Sunsplash. (Roll on media trips for 2009!)Born in north-west London to Jamaican parents, Davina’s key musical passions are R’n’B and reggae, she drinks far too much coffee and enjoys the occasional glass of rosé wine!
