About Me

As of January 2009, this page is inactive. Not because I don't exist any longer, but because I have found this web-based networking site more of a distraction than an asset. I refuse to advertise myself wedged between commercial ads and all kinds of unsolicited calls for attention. I intend to close down this account as soon as I have found a way to include soundbytes on my own websites.
So: Please do not send me any more "friend" requests. They will remain unanswered. Not because I do not want to be in touch with you, but because from now on, I will revert to using only my own, professional email list and website to stay in touch with those interested in my work.

You can get in touch with me, look up all details and updates regarding my work (and send a request to be added to my email list) by logging on to www.isengart.info .

Yours truly,

Isengart
Isengart is a New York-based entertainer whose act blends traditional European Cabaret with contemporary performance styles and sounds.

Hailed as "one of the most fascinating talents on the scene" by New York's Cabaret press, a "Cabaret Sensation" by Time Out, New York, and "a brilliant chanteur and dazzling star" by the local gay press, he has been named the "Darling of Café Sabarsky " (inside the distinguished Neue Galerie on Fifth Avenue), where he regularly stars with ever-changing programs of vintage songs, which he sings in his own English translations.

Mixing his traditional repertoire with contemporary hits – performed cabaret-style, Isengart has performed at Joe's Pub , Spiegelworld , BAM Café at the Brooklyn Academy of Music and had extended solo runs at downtown venues such as the notorious and now defunct Bar d'O in Greenwich Village and the Starlight Lounge in the East Village. He has been featured at the Neuberger Museum 's annual fundraising gala and performed his solo shows at the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Cleveland Museum of Art . He has been a frequent contributor to Earl Dax' Weimar New York Variety Show in New York City, Los Angeles and and SF MOMA in San Francisco.

In the spring of 2008, the art collective The Canal Chapter invited Isengart to created a cabaret night to be presented in their loft in Soho, NYC. The resulting Foreign Affairs became a highly successful weekly night that ran for 5 weeks to standing room only. When the loft's lease expired, Isengart brought limited runs of the acclaimed variety show of "transnational lounge, postmodern cabaret and desperate nostalgia acts" to Corio Supper Club and the Gershwin Hotel . Foreign Affairs is scheduled to reopen on February 2nd at the NIGHT Hotel , presented by nightligfe maven Lee Chappell .

In October 2008, Isengart conceived and created The Boulevard of Berlin Dreams , a highly acclaimed one-night only cabaret extravaganza at MoMA to celebrate the smash hit exhibit Kirchner and the Berlin Street.

Isengart has performed at international festivals in Austria, Germany and Switzerland and, in 2003, brought his one-man show "Liederabend" to Berlin's legendary Spiegeltent, the Bar Jeder Vernunft .
A CD with a live recording of the show is now available online at cdbaby.com/isengart
