Reigning from New Orleans, La. SOBLAK has emerged with a vibrant lyrical style as versatile as the famous gumbo his city is commonly known for. SOBLAK has been involved in HipHop since its formation in the early 80’s, whether it was breakdancing at talent shows or rapping with the neighborhood kids its apparent that he was no slouch when it came to representing each facet of the culture. Upon graduating high school and having a tour of military duty, SOBLAK decided to do music professionally. The friends made thru the military became essential in his understanding of the business of music and also the work needed to be done in order to make quality music and self-distribute it as well. After extensive travel he setttled back in N. Orleans in 2000 and released several mixtapes. Now this underground veteran is getting a chance to break new ground with his new album entitled "Process of Elimination." Overcoming adversities i.e. Hurricane Katrina, SOBLAK continues to provide hot new music and has established his independent label 1point5 Entertainment LLC.
SOBLAK music is fun, edgy and is badly needed in a industry full of "sound-a-likes." It has no comparison to anything being heard. His lyrics are far from simple which has been a point of concern with hiphop from the South. When asked, what motivates you after many years of being in the game? He replies, "you can never give up on your passion, if it’s your passion!" I love hip-hop and I am hip-hop, there’s no way to escape it, it’s in everything that I do so I’ll always be in the game in one way or another."
