About Me

When I moved from Örebro (Sweden) to Amsterdam in 1996 to study art, me and Kai Parviainen decided to stop working as Enema & Gejonte. While art became more and more important to me, I continued making music. Lyrically I was confused. My sitiation has changed so much. I no longer lived in small town Örebro, I lived in Hipster mecca Amsterdam. I could not write songs about small town boredoms anymore. Or write songs about small unknown semla (great Swedish pastry) cafees in the countryside. But I could not write about the sex, drugs and techno trance lifestyle that you would expect from Amsterdam yet either....I had a writers block! But just like Peter, Björn & John...I got out of it. Zwarre of Börft records had been harrassing me about new material ever since I left Sweden. What came out on "Ride the dysfunctional beat" was a mixture of experiences. From doing art in Los Angeles (Sunset Blvd Crackwhore), coming home to Örebro and being the hip kid that could easily get laid (Att knulla i Örebro). The death of loved ones (Är du rädd för att dö fegis?), getting really bad reviews of your art shows (So Wrong For So Long), almost losing girlfriends and relationships almost going bad (in Your Head) to the love of sitting in the studio making music and trying to catch up with the now (the now song). Basically I did what I had done with Enema & Gejonte, just write about the wonders and mishaps in my life. Only difference was that my life was suddenly very cool and funky. I was traveling around the world doing art shows and DJ ing instead of working with autistic children in Örebro (which by the way was also very cool in its own way). My next record will be a 10 inch (always my favorite format). I will record it in Rio de Janeiro, hopefully together with some Baile Funk funkateers. Baile Funk is one of my new music loves. I hope to have it released in the spring of 2008, again on Börft records. Buy buy! Jonas
