However, the music that ALWAYS brought my heart home was the kind of stylings inspired by the likes of classic Divas, Nancy Wilson, Ella Fitzgerald and Barbra Streisand. When forming my own show, and as I breathe life into my new CD, the legacy of these consummate singers, serve as a model of excellence for choosing my material and presenting my own individual style.   Ultimately, all of my songs are very meaningful to me. ------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------- ***Please stop by again, as I will be updating this site as my life and career continue to evolve. Thanks, looking forward to seeing you -- Again! ------ :-) CC-you later! Cheryl Carter

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: http://www.soundclick.com/CherylCarter
Band Members: CHERYL CARTER - Solo Artist!*********However, I have to tip my hat to some of the wonderful musicians I've worked with: Wayne Cook, Grant Geissman, Walfredo Reyes, Jr., Dennis Farias, Cliff Hugo, Doug Livingston, Oscar Castro-Neves, Andy Suzuki, Kevin Toney, Carl Anderson, Randy Drake, Sinclair Lott, John Rodby, Dave Marks, Nick Morabito, Richard Cummings, Derf Recklaw, TC Campbell, Dean Taba, Roberto Montero, David Scott, Maitland Ward, Mike Benedict, Marissa Benedict, Mike Carr, Tim Powell, Ida Bodin, Tony Lewis, Panther, Bill Pittman, Joe Sala, Tom Sala, Lenny LaCroix, Leonard Reed, Paul McDonald, Steve Pemberton, David Foster.
Influences: NANCY WILSON is number one. As a little girl I used to sneak into my Dad's sacred Jazz collection to play her music. I loved everything about her style, her choice of songs and lyrics. Also, there is ELLA FTIZGERALD, whom I had the great good fortune to see in concert a few years before she shuffled off the mortal coil. Still, to this day, there is no one like her. And thirdly, BARBRA STREISAND. She takes my breath away. When I was in college, carpooling, my girlfriends were barraged with my renditions of every Barbra song I knew. Ah! Such GREAT friends not to toss me out and onto the bus. Ultimately, for me, these consummate Divas, Nancy, Ella and Barbra were "class personified" and "talents unprecedented". I couldn't have asked for better role models. I still love listening to their music and always will. ********There are numerous others who have touched my soul, too: Oleta Adams, Dianne Reeves, Andrea Bocelli, Aretha Franklin, Jeffry Osborne, Earth, Wind and Fire, Sergio Mendez, Leontyne Price, Luciano Pavarotti, Carmen MacRae, Pat Metheny Group, Acoustic Alchemy, Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson, Irene Kral, Roberta Flack, Stanley Turrentine, Hubert Laws, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Loreena McKennitt, Milt Jackson, Tony Bennett, Frank Sinatra, Al Green...and more......! :-)
Sounds Like: When I'm doing my musical theatre stuff, I've heard that I am reminiscent of PHYLLIS HYMAN. She was a terrific singer with a big sound. I like that. My good friend and awesome Jazz Singer, Dwight Tribble, says I am reminiscent of DEE DEE BRIDGEWATER. She's a Jazz Singer who has lived most of her career in Paris. She's wonderful. The timber of our voices are very similar. And... occasionally, there's some BARBRA STREISAND classical pop flair mixed in. Most of all, I sound like me. :-)
