Norris

Juse and El have been playing together in NYC for about three years. In the summer of 2006, the Electric Insect started sitting in. Mainly self-taught, each of Norris’ members play at least three of the following: guitars, cellos, synthesizers, organs, basses, drums, drum machines, vox, and tapes. Norris’ music has been performed in EVERY borough of the New York area, in addition to venues in Miami, FL, and Austin, TX. Juse hails from Lafayette, Indiana where he studied music and acting. El was born in Austin, and arrived in NYC by way of the Juilliard School. The electric insect spent most of his life playing music in Dallas, before making the big move up north. Meeting in New York City, Norris’s music reaches the most unconventional ways of translating rock music. Heavily influenced by the blues, and home-made instruments, Norris has a sound like no other.Norris has a reputation for putting on shows ranging from performance art to your typical rock concert. Norris performs in dive bars as well as theatres in Lincoln Center. Often teaming up with dancers, film makers, and visual artists, these interdisciplinary developments continue to push Norris’ music to new boundaries. Their latest mutli-media installation was part of the SKELETAL show at the bowery poetry club on August 4th, 2007.In the Fall of 2007, and 2008 Norris performed the CMJ music marathon in NYC.
