"Catch IT!" The newest catch phrase from one of the most up and coming artist from the Michigan state. Born Lawren "Coca Dela Rule" Taylor on December 31, 1979 in Grand Rapids,MI. While growing up to the street hustle, along with the classic sounds of the early 70' through the 80's. Coca was adhered to the fast life of Drugs, money and music. His father Larry Taylor, guided him through the game and taught Coca the responsibilities and the code to the street and family life. At an early age, many family members seen a music outlet for Coca, but being raised on some of the rougher streets in Grand Rapids he was drawn in by the street life and headed down a much more unpromising path. By the age of 12 he was already husltin' crack to some of his friends and adults around his neighborhood. "I remember selling crack to one of my friend's dad! It was like it was nothing to me, that was just the life style that felt normal to me growing up." At the age of 17, Coca was charged with his first felonious crime of possession with the intent to deliver. Now inmate 286019, served 4 years in Michigan Correctional facilities such as; Jackson, River Side, Ojibauwa. Being exposed to the harsh realm of the prison life, Coca uses those images and experiences and begins to tell a story through the art of hip hop. After being released in 2002, and already father to 3 kids, He took his stories and hooked up with good friend Cliffard "Loose Cannon" Walker and Kentre "Kidd Byrd" Byrde and started the 1/2 Knotts. A music and hustlin' squad that became their outlet for survival in the streets and recognition of their musically talent. After pushing his music for some years and opening for major artist such as; 50 cent, eminem, the clipse, royce da 5'9, the dayton family, shorty ty and the wealthy street family, he linked up with his uncle "Slugwell" which is the founder of the Grand Rapids hip hop coalition, and began working on his solo career with the 1/2 Knotts by his side. In summer 2008, Coca was introduced to a young rising producer, Nolan "B'tre" Ferris, and immediately felt a musical connection. B'tre already had produced for such artist as; Ray Cash, Royce da 5'9, JC, Cali Miles, Juelz Santana.etc. Coca and B'tre are currently working on Coca's first official release "Before Crack, After Coca" will be a mixtape featuring exclusive production from B'tre. The dj and features are unannounced at this time. The cd is expected to drop late spring, early summer 2009. You can expect Coca to be working with Jim Jones, Jc, Willie the Kid, La the Darkman in the very near future.
