So... I have been made aware that I should really update this page. I'm in college right now, looking to become (potentially) a Mechanical Engineer. I'm really into languages (French/English are what I mostly know now, with a smattering of Spanish/German/Japanese), writing, designing and building/crafting things, and I want to minor in Musical Instrument Design/Engineering. I play keyboard, and just acquired a synth for the first time, an Alesis Fusion 8HD... woot! It's basically love. Lately I've been into playing Frets on Fire (Open Source Guitar Hero) along with some classic GH3. Looking into learning more about web design and programming, along with building techniques and theory. =) Yup, so that's about it for me. Feel free to ask me anything. I'm not really on here much anymore, sorry... migrated to FB. ----------------------------------- I AM BACK!!! MWAHAHAHA! No more blocking ME from the internet... *grins deviously* --------------------- What to start with? I mean, there's the obvlious... I'm Karen, I'm 17 since July 8th, and I'm gonna be a senior. I also do nordic skiing, yay! I did cross country running and track (distance!) my freshman and sophomore years at Harding. I have a yellow lab and two cavies that I adore. I'm a vegetarian, but it's nothing overboard. However, I am looking to be a flexible vegan soon, most definitely in college. If you have a problem with that, that's fine! Seriously, I don't care... that doesn't have any influence on my friendships. I promise I'm not obsessive. I play the piano and played the flute at one time. Learning to play the acoustic guitar this summer... slowly, one string at a time, but it's getting there! As for music, I love electric guitar/bass and gorgeous vocals with deep, meaningful lyrics: rock! Rock rocks (obviously); metal in general is great anytime. I also like classical, darkwave, indie, musicals (Phantom of the Opera, Rent, etc.), some rap, and some alternative stuff. I'm big into reading, even though I don't get to do it that often because of my IB crap, sports and all the shtuff I manage to get myself into. I like sci fi, midieval, fantasy, vampire, and arthurian books, although I'll try most anything. Candles are awesome to watch. I love the sound of breaking glass! And I want a sword so I can chop you up! Rawwwr! Mwahaha...
I can seem very different on the outside than I really am, which many people who know me can attest to. On the front I can seem like a somewhat happy, sane, bland, geeky, booksmart, quiet-ish, "normal" type of person. However, I'm not really all that happy, I'm depressed but don't want to treat it because I hate medicine and couldn't stand the thought of my happiness being in a pill when I *am* happy (more than you needed to know perhaps? i dunno, i'm in an open mood. no i'm not high... just on caffiene!) Note also that I don't usually open myself up this easily, but since I don't think you would find this unless you knew me already, I don't have much of a problem with it. TMI? too bad. you're the one reading! Im also a very honest person, thought I do have one thing--well, a few-- that I lie about. It's usually for another's protection, or for mine. I am rather insecure, and I must warn you that I am very awkward at accepting compliments and/or criticisms, though I'm getting much better. I write poetry and songs and draw when inspiration strikes, although I'm not exactly the nerdy type through and through, aha. If you get to know me underneath the layers you should understand. I'm just messed up, but that's ok! Now I'm going to shut up because I really don't like analyzing myself, and I'm sure you're bored to pieces, but please don't blow yourself up. That's my job! ;)
