About Me

After playing with various bands over a 17 year period, I decided to start this phase off by forming an acoustic duo with Neil Turner in 1997. At that time we were calling ourselves "FLY!" and playing gigs in and around central Scotlands 'trendy' pub & cafe scene. We recorded a number of tracks together, with Davy Guild on bass and Shannon McCleerey on drums. I wrote the songs featured here except 'Tug Of War', which was co-written with Neil________________________________________________________ There is also a remix of 'So Long' by ROGUE who is a Stirling based DJ/Performer by the name of Jamie More. He liked the song and asked if he could do a remix of it, who was I to refuse? To return the favour Jamie asked if I would do a vocal for his project called ENERGYLab. He had recorded a House version of Bryan Adams' "Run To You" and needed someone to lay down a vocal track so I duly obliged! The finished result has just been uploaded. Please visit Jamies pages under "my friends" - EnergyLab. Hope it's all to your liking! ________All The Best,John Crook _____________________________________________________

Sounds Like: YOU DECIDE FOR YOURSELF! Here is what the gods of music website said about our songs.Of, "TUG OF WAR", Dennis Jennings said, :The world is full of songwriters and singers, but when you sort the really talented ones from the rest the number decreases and only a few deserve merit. Crook is one of the talented few. This song is well crafted and well produced. It combines contemporary folk with English traditional music. It begins as a catchy folk-pop tune and then transforms into a fiddle tune that goes through some interesting variations.Adam Dollard reviewed "VENUS & MARS" and wrote, :Once again, here is another song that would fit in perfectly with any Tarantino film........it is a catchy, upbeat Latin/world track that could have anyone’s feet tapping along to the beat.............!Rob Mortensen gave "6am ROLLING HOME" 8.8 out of 10 and said, :The "OTHER" category really is the proverbial box of chocolates - you never know what your going to get! This piece is a particularly sweet surprise. In addition to being an immensely enjoyable tune, "6am ROLLING HOME" is expertly crafted.Read the full reviews at www.godsofmusic.com
