A former agnostic, I converted to Christianity 26 years ago after a vigorous and prolonged rejection of it on intellectual grounds. I am somewhat obsessed with intellectual reasons for the rejection of Christianity which I have studied continually for two and a half decades.
My main areas of academic study were (and are) molecular biology, the philosophy of science, historiography, philosophy, comparative religion, biblical languages, biblical archaeology, and biblical criticism. I have many other academic interests as well. I read incessantly, almost all "non-fiction" (in quotations since academic knowledge is rarely "value free" or "fiction free").
Other interests include martial arts (aikijujitsu and kickboxing) and music (I have taught guitar part time for 23 years). My own style is strictly instrumental (that's mainly because my singing voice belongs in the shower). My main musical influences include Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Neal Schon (i.e. "impossible guitar").
