The warm summer days have arrived in our little part of the world. Beautiful Southern Illinois.It always amazes and delights me that each season without fail that nature begins her cycle of re-newed life.The honeybee who is anxious to collect the life giving food that will ensure that their colony will survive. Though small and seemingly insignificant the honeybee holds and ensures the world's food supply within its small little body. Without these workers, we do not have pollination. I am always thankful for the honeybee and all that it does to fill the world with beauty and substance for life.The green grass covers the soil creating a carpet of green. The lilies and sunflowers sway their sunny heads in a warm breeze. The birds make beautiful music that fills the air.The hummingbirds and butterflies move quickly in their flight of freedom.The smell of the earth after a rain so cleansing and life giving.Here on the farm, we are preparing the land for yet another season to grow and produce food. The early summer vegetables are growing and will supply colorful nutritious food. The warm sunshine and rain are aiding the vegetables to reach peak flavor.The perennial herbs are growing quickly and the lavenders omit a relaxing scent. Herbs that will supply both food and medicine.We are farmers, we follow farming practices that are good for our earth without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. .
