Mary started dj’ing in the age of 17, playing in a Copenhagen based techno club called Zodiac. Back then, her interests were only focused on goa and trance music on vinyl.
As she got more and more involved with the DJ society, the offers to play at some bigger events came along, but with the feeling that she wasn’t ready for that, she decided to thank no and take a break from spinning records. While doing that, she took an education as a makeup artist, but could never really let go of the turntables. So after a couple of years, she dusted off her bags and started playing again – this time with more commercial music and the cd players as her main instrument.
In 2006 she decided to get her career going. After having a website done, a booking agency soon called to have her trialled as a member of their DJ family and it wouldn’t take long before they started booking her full-time. Since March 2006, Mary has been able to make a living from what she loves the most – playing music!
After that, she soon became the most successful female DJ in Denmark, and with the jobs rolling in, she also got some other interesting offers. She started playing on an internet based radio station, and soon after that, she had her own show in Radio NRJ, where she made a house and electro club mix every Friday night. In June 2006, she played at a big festival along with Sash!, Brooklyn Bounce, Lasgo and lots of other big names, and after that, she got the honour of being the backing singer of the Danish star Inez on her tour.
Together with the famous clubâ€Ritzâ€, she created the â€Trance Night†event. A night of only psy-trance and full-on, once or twice each month. This was a huge success, which gave her the courage to make an even bigger event, called PsyGazm, where she have had names like Hypersonic, Oforia, Onyx and Vibe Tribe playing.
In January 2007, Mary participated at the Danish Eurovision Song Contest, acting as the backing singer and DJ of one of the acts. She received gold record for being on the, later on, released album from this event.
While doing all these things, Mary has played at tons of clubs all over Denmark, at lots of different events. She has been playing almost all genres and sometimes also all of them mixed together on one night.
Mary Swan is one of Denmark’s best known and most booked female DJ’s. And from her incredible drive and energy behind the mixer, to her amazing technical skills, she is creating parties that won’t soon be forgotten. There is no doubt that she loves doing what she does and that she will be here for many years from now.
