About Me

So here is my story. I was 12 when I first hit the stage singing as Oliver Twist in my Grade 6 school play. At the same time I was learning clarinet and keyboard. I hit Grade 7 and due to my voice breaking, I wanted to leave singing for a while. I also changed from clarinet to saxophone (much cooler). When I was 14 I tried my singing out again, unfortunately it was of no success. I humiliated myself in front of my whole school singing "Plush" by the Stone Temple Pilots and "Keep em' Separated" by the Offspring. So embarrassing! I really don't know why I did that. So, it was clear from then on that I would never be a singer, so I continued playing saxophone and started also playing bass guitar in a school grunge band. I turned 18 and started studying jazz saxophone at the Tasmanian Conservatorium. 4 years later I left Tasmania and bypassed Melbourne and Sydney and hit Berlin. I hadn't planned on studying further, but was brutally shown my weaknesses at some Berlin Jam sessions, so continued to study 6 months later. I finished my Diploma in early 2006 and began a Masters degree. During the last year of my Diploma, I had been writing music not only in the jazz genre, but had gone back to my rock routs. I started collaborating with a singer/songwriter friend of mine from Tasmania (Simon Ditcham) via the internet, with help from a German drummer/producer/mastermind (Robert Puls). My friend came over in 2007 and we tried to get the music happening. I was the co-writer and saxophone bass player. I decided to quit my Masters degree to really focus on the band. Unfortunately at that very point the band started to fall apart. Soon after my friend went back to Tasmania, and I was left inspired to write and start again. I began to record like crazy in my little cheap as cheap can be home studio. This is when I finally got to bring my singing back out of the closet. Yes it had taken me 12 years to get over my early teen experience. What you hear here is 5 from about 40 songs. So its just the beginning. There is a whole lot more to come. Making up for lost time you could say.
