Mercy was born in Ghana but grew up in South Wales. She had always enjoyed singing but only started taking it seriously from the age of 11 when she and her sister began having voice lessons with an opera singer. When she came to London in '97 her love for music and performing was given room to grow. She was introduced to the music of artists like Kirk Franklin, CeCe Winans and Fred Hammond for the first time, and the passion and message of their songs had a huge impact on her.
Pursuing this newfound love for Gospel music, she became involved in various musical projects and groups and started singing background vocals for her friend Margaret Tandoh , recording on her first and second albums. Apart from being a great training ground, singing for Margaret opened the door for Mercy to work with other UK artists like GKREAL , who went on to introduce her to Premier Radio's Muyiwa and his group Riversongz .
Since joining Riversongz, Mercy has had the opportunity to perform at many events here and abroad including Greenbelt, Live 8, International Gathering of Champions and Festival of Life and worked with the likes of Matt Redman, Daniel Beddingfield, LCGC, Madonna, and Westlife. She has also sung on several recordings including work with Keeler Gap , Prodigal Son , Wayne Sanders and the very soulful Bianca Rose .
Most recently, Mercy featured on Rockhill Music's acclaimed ACOUSTIC GOSPEL album, a compilation produced to raise money for Oxfam, Save the Children and two North London schools, presenting the life changing message of the Gospel in a fresh new way.
Her song "G.O.D & Me", which she co-wrote, is the first single released from this album.
Mercy is currently working on her highly anticipated first solo project. Watch this space!
