About Me

Raqs = Egyptian/Arabic for 'Dance' sometimes spelt Raks, Macabre = Gruesome/inspiring horror, DanseMacabre = Dances of Death.Run by Her Royal Hellness Lucretia, RaqsMacabre was started to bring a bit of Dark humour to bellydance, it's one step beyond 'gothic bellydance'. I am slowly amassing an army of Zompires - a scary cross between zombies and vampires, with the glamour of the vamps and ruthlessness of my favourite creatures the Zombies. We also like a bit of fiendish and fun fusion as well as occasionally more traditional stuff - baladi, stick and saidi being my favourites.Workshops available in all the above.Based in Newcastle area, but happy to travel for workshops and performances. We have danced at various events including goth, burlesque and horror nights, and the occasional bellydance do of course. So if you're not scared to try something different, get in touch. Promise we don't bite if treat nicely. We could even bring Dessie the dancing horse, and Hettie TheHappyHearse if you ask nicely. Desiree is an authentic Eygptian dancing 'pantomime' horse, a bit of a diva but well loved and has performed at some of the UKs top belly dance events including Raqs Britannia, Fantasia, Bellydance Congress, Joy and Majma.  I edited my profile with Thomas Myspace Editor V4.4 (www.strikefile.com/myspace)

Zombie Sam

Sam is the newest (and we all think - bestest - well bestest male anyway) zombie of the troupe. He joined us when we did a zombie night in Leicester and looked so good - like a dapper Edwardian gentle...
