About Me

I've been performing on the violin/fiddle since I was 4. I grew up studying classical violin in formal lessons with various wonderful teachers, and at the same time taught myself to fiddle from records at home. Over the years I've had opportunities to perform many different types of music such as classical, bluegrass, Cajun, blues, light rock to metal, various ethnic styles, various types of "world" music, experimental music, and some jazz. I also play the Cajun accordion, electric and acoustic guitar, mandolin, stand up bass and bass guitar, tenor banjo, and various percussion instruments. I can sing lead or harmony. So far, I've performed across the U.S., in Canada, China, and Israel. I've had the pleasure and honor of collaborating in performance with some of the finest musicians in the world across a very broad spectrum of musical genres. Cajun-wise, I've toured with Jo-el Sonnier, and gigged with the following Lafayette-area musicians: David Greely, Pine Leaf Boys, Jimmy Breaux, Lee Benoit, Al Berard, Cypress Bottom Boys, Jamie Bearb, Joe Hall, Acadien Cajun Band... When it comes to recording, I'm comfortable and experienced in the studio but I can be a perfectionist. I enjoy teaching as well. I've taught fiddle in individual lessons and group classes at Oberlin College and the Augusta Heritage Center, and over the years I've given lessons (both classical violin and fiddle, as well as other instruments) to people of all ages, musical backgrounds and skill levels. I believe that it's never too early or late in life to begin learning a new instrument. My students who have accomplished the most are those with a burning desire to improve. Feel free to contact me with any questions about performing, recording, lessons, etc.
