My name is Pete (not Peter), but some call me P, Petey Pablo, or P-Train. Back in HS, my teammates used to call me "Smoov," but nobody calls me that anymore. I'm Thai (spicy) and about 1/4 or 1/5 Chinese (mostly the MSG).
Thai-Chinese-American
I was born in Chi-town (Chicago), Illinois, but raised primarily in Los Angeles. For a few years, I lived in Seattle (WA), Portland (OR), & Grants Pass (OR) when I was much younger. I also lived in upstate NY for a few years when I attended Syracuse University. You learn to make the best of things when you live in towns that are 25-square miles or smaller.
I may be young (& look even younger), but I've paid my dues in many ways. For example, I've worked for over 20 different companies, many of which are Fortune 500/1000. I love what I do because, some days I can take things seriously and other days I just mess around. No matter what, I make it a point to learn at least ONE new thing every day. Having worked in so many diverse environments with distinct personalities, I've grown to learn more about how and why people do certain things. Another benefit is that I get to play with cutting-edge gadgets and "technology toys" every day. Ultimately, I like troubleshooting and helping people out, especially knowing that it makes their day even though it's like second nature to me. Currently, I'm a network/systems administrator working as an I.T. Manager for CBS Studios / Paramount Pictures in Studio City. This is a list of some of the things I enjoy / like:
-BOWLING 188 avg. - I need to be more consistent
-SHOOTING POOL above avg but used to be lots better
-SINGING I pretend that I'm decent, but I'm not really that good.
-OUTDOORS activities / FISHING / HIKING / CAMPING gotta love nature
-WATCH/PLAY SPORTS bball & football mainly
-MARTIAL ARTS / MMA I trained in Tae Kwon Do & Muay Thai when I was younger, but I have a new passion to train again along with Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu or Chute Box
-WORKING OUT Sound Mind, Sound Body, Sound Spirit
-VIDEO GAMES I don't really have time anymore, but I'm thinking about scoopin' up a PS3 to play sports and fighting games
-MUSIC R&B, Hip-Hop, & slow jams; I like some rock / alternative too as long as it has a nice flow and cool lyrics. Jazz is a favorite of mine also because it's so soulful, and I love the Saxophone. I don't really know too many jazz artists, but I enjoy listening to it when I can.
-MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS When I was a kid, momz tried to make me take piano and flute lessons, but I didn't wanna end up in band camp, so I refused to go. I wanna learn how to play the saxophone & electric guitar. If you know how to teach, or can refer me to someone, hook me up.
-DANCING If the music is on point and the alcohol is flowin', I'll get my boogie on.
-COOKING I've always had a passion to learn how to cook all types of different foods, so I'm thinking about taking classes now
-LANGUAGES I speak English, Thai, and un peu de francais (lil' bit of French). I'm always intrigued by people who speak multiple languages.
-TRAVELING I haven't been back to Thailand since I was 6 years old. It's time to visit my peeps, and rediscover who I am. I also want to travel the world (Eurotrip, Australia/New Zealand, S. America, and Tour of Asia.)
-PEOPLE WATCHING Because I majored in sociology/criminology, I like to observe people interacting in all environments: dance clubs, gym, mall, park, beach, wherever.
-SPIRITUALITY I think everyone should believe in a higher being of some sort. Meditation and time alone calms the spirit. Woooo saaaaaaaaw!) =)
-GREAT SMILES Smiles are so sincere, free, and lighten up rooms. A great smile can melt hearts.
-BEAUTIFUL EYES windows to your soul
-HANGING OUT / JUST CHILLIN'
-COMPUTERS / TECHNOLOGY Ok, I'm somewhat of a geek, but that shit pays the bills. HAHA The trade-off is if you can cook, I can fix your PC, server, or network! =P )
-CARS I've owned all kinds of cars, but in LA you grow to like 'em more because we practically live in those things.
-MOTORCYCLES Even though I haven't owned one yet, I'ma get one this year f'damn sho: GSX-R 750
-VERSATILE & SPONTANEOUS PEOPLE Don't be boring & one-dimensional.
-SENSE OF HUMOR I'm a jokester & a half. I love clownin' around all day. If you don't have a sense of humor, I don't wanna be around your sensitive ass. LOL
-COMEDY This goes along with sense of humor, but I always wish I could have been a professional stand-up comedian or comedian-actor.
-PASSION & CONVICTION for life, in love, & for everything you believe in
-VOLUNTEERING / ALTRUISM For everything we THINK we don't have, I thank God for everything I do have. I used to coach boys football & bball, and I'd like to help kids again.
-KIDS They're so sincere & brutally honest. I like that. We were all like that once upon a time. I don't have any of my own yet, but some day... ___________________________________________________________I have a Type A personality, and always look for constructive competition (it's what this damn country is built on), so I enjoy board games, chess, sports, martial arts, poker, and just about any other fair challenges. I try to watch UFC & Pride Fighting whenever I'm not watching poker shows (High Stakes Poker or WPT/PPT), CSI:Las Vegas, Law & Order: SVU, some random game shows, sports, or whatever else I've saved on Tivo/DVR. Actually, I can enjoy anything from the Discovery Channel to FoodTV Network (Iron Chef / Emeril Live) to TechTV-G4 to ESPN/FSN/FSW to Showtime to SKINemax to porn (LOL). I'm trying to get into more tv series regularly (just too damn busy) like Heroes, 24, Rome, or whatever, but maybe someone can clue me in on which ones are tight, and when they're on.I have a Bachelor's Degree in Criminology/Sociology, and will have at least 1 Master's Degree completed by June 2007. I also hold over 9 I.T. certifications, but that doesn't really matter here since this is MySpace, not my resume. I'm just trying to sound smart to impress you. =oþI have 2 wonderful parents who've always done the best they could to raise their kids right; it's never been easy, but somehow we weathered the storm. My mom is probably the single reason I never ended up in jail, dead, or all messed up. I owe her my life. She can cook like a mofo too. My late grandmother is the best cook I've ever known though. She was an old school "teach yourself from trial-and-error" type of Thai food chef. When I tried to sit down with her to write a recipe book, she said she doesn't measure ingredients. She'd always say (in thai), "You have to go by taste and experience"...oh well, sucks for me. =( LOL I also have 2 beautiful, educated sisters; 1 is 2 years older & the other is 2 years younger. They both have Master's Degrees: older sis is a Financial Advisor (so lemme know if you need the hook-up), and younger sis is a college professor. They are always there for me even though I don't get to hang out with them all that much. One of them is #1 on my Top Friends list. She won the "Miss Thai L.A." pageant some years ago. Other than that, I have a bunch of relatives (grandma on mom's side had 9 kids) scattered across the U.S. and Thailand like Eddie Murphy's offspring. All of my relatives used to hang out all the time, but distance and time have been unfortunate obstacles. I'm sure we'll have a huge family reunion some time in the future.Create or get your
