About Me
Lora Kvint is one of Russia's most popular, prolific and beloved composers.
At 14 , her songs were already acquired by professional concert organizations in Russia and many concert artists. Kvint soon became widely popular in the music world.
Her songs were first heard throught out Leningrad music community and were performed by a number of established artists such as Senchina and Asadullin.
Soon after a first musical came out titled "Carlson came back" to a great critical acclaim in local press.
In 1985, Lora Kvint wrote music for a play "Peppe Long Sock" based on the book by Lindgren. When Lindrgen saw the story on the stage, the famed Swedish writer called it "the best of my works that have ever been staged ."
Her major break came with the production of first ever in Russia Rock Opera "Giordano" with Valery Leontiev in a title role. The opera also included such stars as Larisa Dolina, Pavel Smeyan, Vladimir Pankratov and Andrei Bill.This opera was premiered in a summer of 1986 causing a Nation wide sensation. Hit single " My Angel" became a winner of many hit parades in former Soviet Union.
Lora continued her work and carried her talents into film, television, theatre and radio. Her music was in a play titled "Perpetuum-mobile" of the Leningrad Experimental Theatre , in which Lora also made her acting debut in the role of the Muse. Lora becomes a composer in demand and starts to write music for to feature films such as : "The winds of the Baltic Sea" (1984), "Ivan" (1990), "Kings of Russian detectives, "Useful people" (1985); Radio show " The Name" (1996). Music theme of the show "Name" was the basis for the song "Brutal", which was later included in repertoire of Philippe Kirkorov as well as hit single"Nalivaite bratzi"(Let's drink my brothers!).Among Lora's many hits -one had become an instant classic: Song "Zdravstvui Mir"(Hello, Peace) that was performed at the Goodwill games in Tallinn, which had a truly unique ensemble composed solely of the stars of Russian pop. The song went on to win all the major Russian Awards including "Song of the Year 1989" and became one of the most memorable tunes.
Comissions for songs from almost all top Russian Stars started to come down with enourmous speed. Next few years Lora's songs were performed by FORUM (Moscow romance "), T. Gwerdziteli (" Derevyanni balconchik "), Tolkunova (Seryozha), C. Rotaru "Night of Love", Vinokur "Hey, the Slavs", I. Kobzon "Lord, save Russia" and Irina Allegrova .
A special place in Lora's musical life belongs to Valery Leontiev for whom in addition to opera "Giordano" she has written such hits as "I am simply a singer", Till I see you on Wednesday", "Swim to India", "My Angel ,Prazdnik bez menya"(Holiday without me) and many others.Nadezhda Babkina "Oh, mama, mamenka", "So what if its serious", "Only if it is a General" .
A life long friendship was developed with one of Russia's leading actors Nikolai Karachenzov for who she wrote hits like:"A u menya vsyo shvacheno", "War driving", "Madam", "Music costs money, "Spring Grove ".
Other artists include:Lolita" Where are you, my beloved? " , "God is the thread leads," "These pale roses", A. Apina "Soperniza ". Lora Kvint has collaborated with poets : V. Kostrovm, N. Denisov, R. Malyshev, O. Klimenkova, L. Rubalska, L. Voropaeva. She is a frequently appears in all Russian Hit TV shows and serves as a jury member at a number of Russian Competitions":Eurovision "," Slav bazaar "," Yalta-Moscow-transit " "Stairs in the Sky, etc. She is now living and working in Moscow.
