About Me

Hmm...I guess everything you really need to know is under my interests. I'd rather like to get to know you! Then, we'll know each other and not need to rely on "about me" sections.

My Interests

Well, I love writing, reading, and exercising/working out when I have the time. I'm also very into nature-related things (I'm ecofriendly!) and an aspiring gardener of sorts. My friends are all wonderful people that I rely on. I am fascinated by all world cultures, but some favorites include Japanese, Chinese, Italian, Brazilian, and French (I'm an ecofriendly culture vulture!), just to name some. I'm quite geeky; I love technology, quirky things, and get a kick out of just about anything (I laugh like crazy). Music also is one of my main passions in life. I'm a professional musician, but don't do a lot with it anymore. Films also are part of me, and I'd love to write screenplays one day.

I'd like to meet:

Too many people. I've met many great people, and want to meet many more, alive and dead.

Music:

I love to write music (may record and start up a "band" on here sometime). I also play piano (my favorite), organ, trombone (made All-State band in high school!), bass guitar, acoustic guitar, and a little bit of cello. I enjoy tons of bands, soloists, and composers, including: Emperor, Secret Garden, Josh Groban, Dark Tranquility, Blind Guardian, Arch Enemy, Death, Tchaikovsky, Naglfar, Labyrinth, Kalmah, Slayer, Yo-Yo Ma, Witchery, Dennis Chambers, Keiko Matsui, Placido Domingo, Pat Metheny, Pink Floyd, Niacin, Amici Forever, Maurice Ravel, Old Man's Child, Stu Hamm, Suidakra, Bedrich Smetana, At The Gates, Hector Berlioz, the Schumanns, DragonForce, Dimmu Borgir, Brave, Scorpions, Paganini, Black Label Society, Orff, Morbid Angel, Wolverine, Krisiun, Godgory, Andrea Bocelli, Imperanon, David Gallegos, Spock's Beard, Bal-Sagoth, Stratovarius, Immortal, Graveworm, Disillusion, Liszt, Eric Whitacre, Jim Wilson, Nevermore, Ruggero Leoncavallo, Venom, Testament, a few film composers, etc.

Movies:

There are many I love, but here are some: The Alien Quadrilogy, Predator, The Godfather Trilogy, Platoon, The Dark Crystal (heck yeah), Legend of the Drunken Master, Schindler's List, 21 Grams, Mystic River, Raging Bull, A Clockwork Orange, Le Fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain (Amélie), Le Pacte des loups (Brotherhood of the Wolf), The Pianist, The Mission, Born on the Fourth of July, Full Metal Jacket, Monster, The Good, The Bad and the Ugly, The Deer Hunter, Heat, Wallace and Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit, some Krzysztof Kieslowski movies, The Neverending Story, Chinatown, classic Disney films, Apocalypse Now, The Hannibal Lecter series, Princess Mononoke, Akira, Collateral, Casino, Once Upon a Time in America Ray, Taxi Driver, Alfred Hitchcock movies, My Neighbor Totoro, some independent films, and so on.

Television:

Gosh, anything on Food Network (old Iron Chef [even though the newer one is pretty good too], Good Eats (!!!), and I dreadfully miss East Meets West), Mystery Science Theater 3000 (own quite a few sets...), The Simpsons, Futurama, Robot Chicken, Family Guy, Trading Spaces, What Not to Wear, and basically anything on the History Channel or History International, and the Discovery channels (especially Discovery Science). I basically use television as background noise though; only a few shows I care for...I'm a movie guy.

Books:

It will be easier to list authors, "types" of books, and a few standouts here. So, let's see: I love cookbooks, Deliverance, Edgar Allan Poe, H.P. Lovecraft, Stephen Crane, Heart of Darkness, The Divine Comedy, John Milton, Rudyard Kipling, Ernest Hemingway, The Brothers Karamazov, Russian literature, Thomas Hardy, Algernon Blackwood, I actually like reading plays and dramatic things like that, Ovid, Guy De Maupassant, Kayla Ward (you ARE a great writer!), Walt Whitman, The Yearling, and Charles Dickens. In general, I just like to read poetry, old fairy tales, tons of things, just I lack time sometimes and begin something and never finish.
