help us to diffuse this competitionCompetition announcementCIOCCOLATO’2007.3DSARTICLE 1 COMPETITION THEME The Turin branch of the CNA (National Confederation for the Craft Sector and Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises), in partnership with Altrementi, “a contemporary hotbed for creative young people”, has launched a Design competition in which the theme is chocolate.The competition theme, “Chocolate and design, innovation and creativity in the name of flavour”, explores the theme of chocolate with the aim of producing designer chocolates. The competition challenges both students and professionals to adopt a project-based approach to bring their ideas to life, using chocolate, to create “innovative” chocolates that can be produced on a small or large scale.The chocolates or chocolate products selected by the jury will be placed on show in the atelier in Piazza Vittorio in Turin and offered for tasting during Cioccolatò 2007, which will be held from 2 to 11 March.The best projects will be published in an issue of the magazine ALTREMENTI and presented to chocolate manufacturers for future production, subject to agreement between the designer and producer.Projects may include the use of the following “raw materials”:Classic white chocolate, dark chocolate, milk chocolate, “gianduja” chocolate. These 4 types, containing different percentages of sugar, glucose, etc. may be used on their own or with cocoa beans, granulated sugar, hazelnuts, walnuts, honey, almonds, chilli, coffee, mint, pistachio, pine-seeds, figs, strawberries, lemons, ginger, cinnamon, spices; in addition to fruit, these 4 types of chocolate may also be associated with liqueurs: rum, maraschino, wine, etc.ARTICLE 2 Selection of projects to be made into chocolate products A selection committee made up of the board of the Turin branch of CNA and experts in the field (master chocolate-makers and representatives from chocolate manufacturing firms) will evaluate the feasibility of the projects submitted.ARTICLE 3 PARTICIPANTS 1. The competition is open to everyone, as individuals or groups. Submissions will be accepted from designers, young professionals and students with no restrictions in terms of age limit or place of origin. 2. Each designer may also submit more than one project.ARTICLE 4 SUBMISSION OF PROJECTS AND ELIGIBILITY 1. Participation is free. 2. The deadline for submitting design project presentation material is 15/01/2007. Projects submitted after that date will be excluded from the competition. Entries must be submitted by e-mail to [email protected]. 3. The design project must include: - One or two tables illustrating the project in A3 format (JPG 72 dpi). - Three-dimensional model of the chocolate to be used to create the moulds. - Brief description of the project in a Word or PDF document.ARTICLE 5 SELECTION CRITERIA The general criteria for evaluation are: - Consistency with the competition theme. - Feasibility of the project for series production (at artisan or industrial level) - Quality of the design - Innovativeness of the projects submitted.ARTICLE 6 PRIZES and Selection Panel The following prizes will be awarded: - 1st prize 1000 euros - 2nd prize 400 euros - 3rd to 10th prize 200 euros eachThe best chocolates or chocolate products will be selected by a panel of judges made up of design experts and representatives from the firms sponsoring the competition.ARTICLE 7 INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS AND PRESS RELEASES By taking part in the competition, participants authorise Altrementi and CNA to use, exhibit, publish and show submitted projects on any data medium or using any means of communication for as long as is necessary for any purposes whatsoever in connection with training, communication and/or marketing.Participants acknowledge that the project submitted is their own original creation and that it does not infringe third party rights. Participants also agree to indemnify and hold harmless Altrementi and CNA and their operational partners with respect to any and all claims or liabilities in connection with this competition. Participants authorise master chocolate-makers and CNA to produce a small series of the selected chocolates, for distribution and/or sale, exclusively during Cioccolatò 2007.Finalists and winners of the first, second and third to tenth prizes agree to grant CNA and the master chocolate-makers a six-month option to develop the relative production facilities. Should CNA or the master chocolate-makers decide to exercise said option, participants authorise them to develop, set up the relative production facilities, manufacture and sell the products based on their project in exchange for a royalty payment to be agreed upon between the parties and defined under a separate agreement.ARTICLE 8 RESULTS AND PUBLICATION Competition winners will be notified personally by e-mail and will be named in a public announcement during the prize-giving ceremony.The best projects submitted will be published in an issue of the magazine ALTREMENTI.ARTICLE 9 PROTECTION OF PERSONAL DATA The personal data provided in order to take part in the competition will only be used for the purposes of the competition.
