Art is a lie that makes us realize truth....Pablo Picasso

About Me

If I don't know you, just leave me alone.
I want life in every word to the extent that its absurd.
I want much more than this provincial life...I want adventure in the great wide, somewhere...I want it more than I can tell. And for once it might be grand, to have someone understand. I want so much more than they've got planned...
I love Sean Etzel and we are engaged to be married, and will be hopefully soon after I graduate, which should be next year in December. I love our little Chihuahua, Pablo Picasso. Pobbi for short. Or Squabbi. Or Wobbi. He will answer to anything high pitched and excited sounding. He's very sweet...after he gets to know you. I'm LDS! Not FLDS, or anything crazy like that, just LDS. Latter-Day Saint was indeed a choice on the religion list, but I did not choose it because "christian-other" was in another group, making it seem as if Mormons were not Christians-We are, and if you don't believe me I don't really care what you think. It doesn't matter anyway.
I'm a General Studies major with concentrations in Photography and Writing, with a minor in Art History. Sounds like a lot, but it's not really. Just a good variety. I love designing things. Like this page. I love art. Vincent van Gogh, Dali, Classic greek and Roman art, just a lot of it. Passionate brushstrokes, Surrealism, you know. It just gets me. I love making art. Or at least trying to make art. It keeps me focused and challenged. Makes me feel accomplished. Nothing too fancy. Photography and the like mostly. Photography can capture an image that really could say a thousand words. I hate to use a cliche, but it really is true. That's another thing, I love using other people's quotes to express my innermost thoughts, as you will see. Driving for long periods of time allows me to think, and I love doing that. Sometimes, I think too much about everything and why we are here. "We" being homo-sapiens and "here" being on this planet called Earth. Philosophy interests me greatly. I am quite a Romantic. Yeah, I love long walks on the beach, candle-lit dinners...no. I mean like Thoreau and Emerson Romantic. Like Franciso Goya Romantic. That's why it's capitalized. It's more like a time period. A great art and writing period. I can be quite random at times. Music is my soul. It's in me like the veins flowing through my body. I couldn't live without it. I love singing. Mostly anything singable. Ok, not everything. Some stupid, worthless Country, R&B, and new Rap is quite annoying. You can pretty much find me singing randomly throughout the day. I love dancing as well. I just dance. To lots of stuff.

I love plays and the theater. Drama. I love musicals. Most of them anyway. Phantom of the Opera is one my my favorite musicals, movies, and some of my favorite music of all time. Sweeney Todd is really starting to grow on me as well. It's the emotion and passion that gets me in musicals. Pretty much anything emotional and passionate will get me. People break into song when unaltered words will not suffice. Music lifts the words up higher than they thought they could ever go and lets them fly. I love literature and writing. I think that's where passion gets me again. Those darn writers, they know how to make my soul ache. Emily Dickinson, Shakespeare, Poe, Thoreau...so many. I want to be a writer eventually. Don't know what kind, or when, or how. I just know I want to write. Pour my thoughts out onto paper. Or Microsoft Word, either one. I love film, or just "movies" for you common folk. Some of them are quite interesting and thought-provoking. You can see my slideshow of beloved film stills to your left. Just another facet that I love of the "Communication Arts" emphasis.
You will find that I don't really like parties or large groups of people congregating in one place or area. There is no truth in the crowd. I hate shopping because I hate being around all those annoying people. People really are annoying these days. Such a monotonous blob of... people. It takes away your personality and "you-ness" to be lost in a crowd. Alone time is necessary for good meditation and clear thoughts. Now, I do love having fun with Sean and my friends...humor is a must in life. It plays a large part in mine. Well Sean is a big ball of humor, so quite a large chunk of my waking, living hours are spent with humor. If you don't have humor in life, then you're not living.
I don't drink and I don't smoke and I honestly think you're not that smart if you do. Either that or just not thinking clearly. I'll still love you, I will just be quite worried about you. Honestly, I just don't agree with Cirrosis of the liver, Emphysema and heart failure. Heart failure is much more common than emphysema in smokers. I would just like my lungs rare and still breathing instead of well-done burnt crispy, and my liver intact. And all you drinking, crowd-loving partiers, I'll be having much more fun with better health, while I'm living longer and getting to see more of the world than you.
Thats another thing, I want to see the world. All of it. I love other cultures. I am a firm believer in anti-Ethnocentrism. I especially want to see Italy and Ireland. Italy for the art, land, people and food. Ireland for the land, culture, people and music. I love being outside. Nature. I would almost say I worship "mother nature". It is awe-inspiring and makes you realize you are just a tiny little dot on this planet of ours. It all just works so perfectly together, how all the little pieces fit. God knew what he was doing. Of course. I love camping and biking and hiking, just to be outside. I haven't mastered riding a bike in the woods, and I'm out of shape, but I'll fix that soon. You will find that I am interested in the supernatural. Anything unexplained grabs my attention. Aliens, ghosts, the Bermuda Triangle, the Loch Ness monster, Time travel...
Ok, so I'm kind of into the movie, Disney's "The Little Mermaid"...ok, so I'm really into it... it's the passion again! The music, the drama! Quite a passionate little musical!
So, I really like other Disney movies too, like Pocahontas, and Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King...passion and music... you guessed it.
I hate Wal-Mart and I avoid shopping there at all costs. Wal-Mart is one of those huge corporations set out to dominate the world. And they certainly have, haven't they? They have killed enough trees and animals, paved over enough of our environment for their huge buildings, parking lots, offices, and warehouses. Don't forget sweatshop labor! Don't you wonder how many kids had to suffer working in a sweatshop making your stuff, not getting paid, possibly kidnapped and even dying just so you could have your t-shirt for $4.99 that you don't even need that you'll wear three times and then throw away?!
I do.
I am a strong advocate for peace. I just wish everyone would realize and get through their pitiful little brains that getting along and helping others would fix a lot this world. Coexist! No war...why kill people to settle disputes? Well, killing is ok if it's for our country, right? No. What is the difference? There is none. I'm surprised murderers don't start using that excuse. How childish is war? "He doesn't like me! He bombed me! I'm gonna beat him up!"
Who would Jesus bomb?
Explore everything you are. Leave no thought left unfinished. Leave no dream left unexplored. You only get one life. Live it how you want. Make a difference. Change the world. Stand up for yourself. Stand up for who YOU are.

"Most men, even in this comparatively free country, through mere ignorance and mistake, are so occupied with the factitious cares and superfluously coarse labors of life that its finer fruits cannot be plucked by them...the laboring man...has no time to be any thing but a machine."

I'll be the grapes fermented, bottled and served with the table set in my finest suit... like a perfect gentlemen. I'll be the fire escape that's bolted to the ancient brick where you will sit and contemplate your day.I'll be the water wings that save you if you start drowning in an open tab when your judgment’s on the brink. I'll be the phonograph that plays your favorite albums back as your lying there drifting off to sleep... I'll be the platform shoes and undo what heredity's done to you... you won't have to strain to look into my eyes. I'll be your winter coat buttoned and zipped straight to the throat with the collar up so you won't catch a cold.I want to take you far from the cynics in this town... and kiss you on the mouth. We'll cut our bodies free from the tethers of this scene, start a brand new colony. Where everything will change, we'll give ourselves new names (identities erased). The sun will heat the grounds under our bare feet in this brand new colony. Everything will change…

The one who keeps me going daily, the one who I look up to(no literally), the one who keeps me sane, the one who keeps me incredibly elated, and most of all, the one that keeps my life happy and worth living.

"This is what you shall do: Love the earth and sun and the animals, despise riches, give alms to every one that asks, stand up for the stupid and crazy, devote your income and labor to others, hate tyrants, argue not concerning God, have patience and indulgence toward the people, take off your hat to nothing known or unknown or to any man or number of men, go freely with powerful uneducated persons and with the young and with the mothers of families, read these leaves in the open air every season of every year of your life, re-examine all you have been told at school or church or in any book, dismiss whatever insults your own soul, and your very flesh shall be a great poem and have the richest fluency not only in its words but in the silent lines of its lips and face and between the lashes of your eyes and in every motion and joint of your body."
-Walt Whitman

Television:

Most television subdues your true thoughts and feelings and freezes them into a world of mindless chatter about the superficial world (Reality TV, contest shows and fake sitcoms mostly). So stupid. I only watch educational or thought-worthy shows and channels: The Sci-Fi and Travel Channels, anything on Nat Geo., Discovery, and History Channels, specifically, The Twilight Zone, X-Files, Who's Line is it Anyway, Unsolved Mysteries, MythBusters, Monster Quest, A Haunting, and any documentaries on aliens, the Bermuda Triangle, hauntings, old civilizations, or anything mysterious. Yeah I'm a nerd, whatever.

Books:

The Davinci Code, anything Steven King, John Saul, or Nicholas Sparks (Message in a Bottle), The Hungry Tide, A Tale of Two Cities, Island of the Blue Dolphins, (and although they aren't really whole books-more like stories-(Macbeth, Romeo and Juliet, The Cask of Amontiado, The Pit and the Pendulum, The Tell-Tale Heart, and The Fall of the House of Usher), Lord of the Flies, Jane Eyre, To Kill a Mockingbird, Of Mice and Men... and don't forget the lovely Dr. Suess...
