Some People

About Me

Some People were formed in 1987 when songwriter/performer Ross Griggs was asked to record a track for Breakin Records, a new label owned by Keith Marshall (late of Glam Rockers 'Hello' and solo artist who scored a worldwide hit with 'Only Crying'). Keith loved the song 'My Blue Heaven' but felt it needed the right voice to front it. After a short search it was suggested that Ross got together with Brian Marshall, who had been writing and producing with Keith. The pair instantly hit it off and within a few months 'My Blue Heaven' was released. The single was very well received and picked up a bit of radio play. Despite very modest sales, the label had enough faith in the potential of Some People to back the recording of an album. A promo version of the album was aired at MIDEM, but the label struggled to secure further financial backing for their rosta, which now included half a dozen artists (including an early incarnation of Right Said Fred...). Although the recording of the album was completed, funds ran out and it was never released. The pair continued to work on the project and even put a live show together, following some healthy interest from a well known publisher. However, many factors combined to spell the end for Some People as a project. Although the SP project had come to an end, Ross and Brian continued to write together for many years and remained the best of friends right up to the time of Brian's death a few years ago. He will be sadly missed by anyone who ever knew him - a great talent! It is with very fond memories that Some People are coming to light after so many years in the dark!! Gig!

Well, the Wisbech gig went well and I thoroughly enjoyed playing a couple of the 'Some People' tunes after many years - a shame Brian wasn't around to sing them... Cheers again Jon!
