About Me

I'm a fiddler, playing traditional music from Sweden and the British Isles. It is amazing music, intense, crooked and intimite, music for dancing, for celebrating and grieving. My solo repertoire is mostly music from western Dalarna, from the village of Malung. This place has been and still is gifted with some amazing musicians. The tunes from this area are dance tunes like springlek and polska, often with open tuning and lots of energy. I also play tunes from Uppland and Skåne, where I find a strong hint of baroque music. From the Swedish speaking parts of Finland I have some lightning-fast polkas and elegant menuets and from England I play tunes like 3/2-hornpipes. Then I usually can't keep myself from throwing in some reels from Shetland or Prince Edward Island.

I currently play mostly in two groups, Ditt Ditt Darium and a fiddle duo with Emma Reid, along with teaching and solo concerts, but I have played a lot of French and Breton music with my good friends and collegues Hélène Brunet, Emily Hawkes and Jeremiah McLane. I enjoy collaborating with lots of different musicians though, and hope to keep meeting interesting musicians and people.

Influences:

Three years at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm , studying traditional Swedish music and fiddle with teachers like Mikael Marin, Sven Ahlbäck, Ellika Frisell and Aly Bain gave me my foundation as a traditional musician. But I have learned equally much from playing with all the amazing musicians I meet over the world, some for a one-time jam session, others for countless concerts and tours. Thank you and keep it coming!
