The Dude They Call Jak
hails from Toronto, Ontario Canada. Spending most of his time writing and recording new tracks in his studio, Jak has created a sound that sets him apart from most other bands and musicians. Taking styles from the past and present and crafting his unique flavor that has received great acclaim from his fans.Being a multi-instrument musician, Jak has spent years refining his style. Starting with Drums at the age of 3, taught by his oldest brother Michael, the first taste of live entertaining came at the young age of 10 when Jak played for an elementary school concert. That was it! Music had found Jak, and Jak had found music.Guitar was next at the age of 9, each of his guitar playing brothers (Paul, Brian, and David) helped teach Jak the basics and encouraged him to explore. Music quickly become a relentless passion.Bass was thrust upon Jak at 16, when a group of friends needed a bass player for a gig. Being closely related to the 6 string guitar, Jak had no trouble adapting his guitar playing style to bass.Dabbling here and there with keyboard/piano was something Jak took his time with. Not having a piano or keyboard to play and practice on made this instrument take the longest to learn.Throughout the years Jak has picked up most instruments without much difficulty, music is truly in his blood. Now a singer/songwriter, with several albums to his credit, Jak is ready to take on the world and share his new view of rock & roll. The newest album “Lost & Found†is a mix of great style and lyrical intimacy that keeps you tuned and in anticipation of the next track. Taking from the pages of Neil Young, Jak changes up the musical style from track to track the way Neil did from album to album. Jak leads the tracks straight to the point, not focused on technical ability. The songs have an older live feel to them, but with modern flavors added to give each track an up-to-date shine that carries a sonic beauty from one end of the album to the other.-
