The Power Of 5

About Me

'The Power of 5' are an unofficial order of Politics Student's at Durham Sixth Form. The 'Powers' decided to create the group when they assessed each other as the five most dominent debators during class debates.

There is certainly diversity within the group, the 'Powers' consist of an avid Blairite, a centre-left Labour Party supporter, two left-wing Liberals (One of whom is a member of the LibDem Party), and a centre-right nationalist.

The 5 Powers in The Power of 5 are:

Maurice "Mozzy" Allen

James Etherington

Ian Geldard

Dominic "Dom" Haney

Nicholas "Nic" Wood

History:
The Power of 5 have mostly always been divided in their stance on debate topics. All 5 powers have never been on one side of an argument together, considering the diversity of their views.

The division of the powers has been shown in the following debates:

For (Yes) - Ian and Mozzy

Against (No) - Dom, Nic and James

No result given as the debate was simply as practise

Should the General Election system be changed from First-past-the-post?

Against (No) - Ian and James

Result: The 'For' Team won.

Should religion be separated from the state?

Should we remain as part of the EU?
