Funkyves, born and raised in Antwerp.
His musical interest already developed in his early years, always rumbling in dad’s old vinyl collection.
Pretty soon he was sold to the electronic sounds produced by artists as Kraftwerk, Pink Floyd, Jean Michel Jarre, Yello, a.o.When he got his first turntables and ‘battle’ mixer, he started experimenting. This was the start of his first steps into the upcoming dj scene. Every week after working during the weekend, the young fellah spent all his money to buy vinyls.Later, together with Dj Vizzam (aka 1/2 D-Electrik) they made as a ‘dj team’ the local crowd crazy with some electro-house sets. Every time there was a local party (Pool- and BBQ-Parties), these guys were asked to put down a performance.From the day when Ramses (DJ/Producer) launched the first edition of Ramifications in JH Wommel, they were rewarded as one of the residents of this event, which is now an 'established value' in the Antwerp nightlife.After a while Funkyves went solo and developed a unique, more personal style. He describes his style, as “perfect for uplifting peak times or slightly heavier, pumping late night times'. Heavy basses & driving rhythms shape his performance by mixing Minimal/Electro and Wave/80’S influenced classics with shit like Trash and Techno.
