About Me

My original songs are from the heart and and many are loaded with social commentary. Some of my lyrics are inspiried by reported news events (Shooter), sometimes a song will come from a dream, (all the events in Don't Let Us Down actually happened in a dream). Love songs, blues, and instrumental music are also included in my original repertoire. I grew up in Bayonne, New Jersey, suburb of New York City, across the river. In the late 1950's, I heard Tom Dooley (The Kingston Trio) on the radio and that was that. I started wandering to the "Village" every Sunday to Washington Square, (New York City), to sing along, learn songs, play my Congo drum and although I was young, it was still quite an experience! Of course my parents did not allow me to go to the city, but my buddy Gerry and I were always on that bus! My family moved to Rochester, New York where I attented High School. In the next 4 years untill 1966, gradudation, I was profoundly influenced by The Kingston Trio, "Folk Era" singer-songwriters, and various other folk groups, along with Dylan, The Beatles, etc. Playing guitar and banjo, I learned and performed, solo or in trios and duos, countless number of songs. After the military I played banjo in Dixieland bands and also in the old sing-along Shakey's Pizza venues, good fun! I have been learning songs ever since, always interested and influenced by all the wonderful talent in all different styles of popular music, Folk, Dixieland, Blues, Rock, etc. For quite a while now, I have been working on my original music and lyrics. So, fast forward, 2008, in the present, Nov.22, 2008 I will be 60 years young and looking forward to many more joyful years of Harmonica, Guitar, Banjo and singing! I sincerely wish everyone good fortune and hope you will enjoy my music.
