Hold it Down ProductionsOne Love Hackney’s week of peace was a combination of three events to celebrate peace, community cohesion and anti-violence. This year Team Hackney, who funded the event, decided to place the spotlight on young people from BME communities aged between 14-25 years old. One of the key issues of the week was to focus down on some of the really challenging issues such as the problems communities faced when dealing with black on black crime, which sadly includes serious acts of violence and the drugs on the streets. The whole purpose of these events is to unite young people and stop them from getting into situations that can land them either behind bars or losing their lives. This is why Hold it Down (HID) productions was created. HID has put together a series of music based activities where young people can channel their talent into other positives such as music, dancing and other activities.Hold it Down ProductionsIs a young people’s led and managed events management company, formed in the light of the need for young people to be able to respond to the challenge of supporting the fight against, gang violence and negativity which is threatening to over take the lives of our young people.Hold it down exclusively employs young people under the age of 25 and offers fellow young people the opportunity in a limited way at this point, involvement with the events, that the company runs and manages. DO YOU want to get involved?Hold It Down (HID) will present events across the year. Aimed at youth between 14-25. It aims to get their talent noticed by industry professionals, which will hopefully lead to them perusing their dream as a professional career but also to getting them involved in a business that holds many opportunities for young people. All of the above is designed to show young people that there is more to life then being on the “road”. It also gives them a sense of what it is to be disciplined and responsible.The overall message will be one love and unity across Hackney. This will be reflected in adverts, banners and through our street team who will be promoting the event as a well as through our event promotional video.The emphasis is on safety and fun and we seek to work in partnership with our venue hosts, the police and our security company to ensure that it is a well-managed, peaceful and enjoyable event for all to attend.Target group:Young people aged 14-25 from Black communities across London.It is expected that some youth attending will be at risk of crime or involved in “crews” or on the periphery of gang or illegal activity. It should be noted that this is HID’s key target cohort, as we are a project of HCVS working directly with young people involved with Guns and Gangs.Engagement:We expect to engage with a wide range of young people from the target group.
