About Me

When I'm not working or wasting time, I try to work on my thesis. Every now and then I think I might be getting my priorities wrong, and then I go out dancing.
I'm picky about the people I hang out with, but no more than that they're nice and have backbone and integrity. Surprisingly that ends up meaning picky...

My Interests

Drinking black coffee. Shopping on-line or on-sale. Sometimes reading. Looking for inspiration. Sleeping. Clubbing. Listening to music. Staying up really late for no good reason. Looking at your MySpace profile. Administrative tasks(I'm actually really good at those). Not going to outdoor-festivals. Theorizing reality - which makes no practical sense really.
Youth culture/subculture (I love the kids). Music. Pop-surrealism and lowbrow art (trash is fun). Feminism & feminist theory. History (What's your favorite war?). American dichotomies. Science Fiction (not horror). Sneakers. Marvel (and some DC) comics. Reading books on all of the above. Outings and trips of various kinds.
Mixtapes! (make me one and I'll love you forever)
Finding a place to live in Oslo.

I'd like to meet:

Anyone with an extra pair of UNKLE Dunks.
Potential friends.
Someone who doesn't promise me the world, but keeps their promises.

ps. your band sucks.

Music:

Any format; 12", 10", 7", cd, cassette, mp3, mp4, wav, dcc, 8 track, minidisc, mixtapes, albums, singles, ep's, I'll play 'em all!
I like music with synthesizers, drum machines and/or sirens. Or a good moshpart. Heavy basslines are a plus.
I usually like the dub mix on the maxi single best.
Last week:

ps. Where the hell did my copy of MC Solaar's Prose Combat go? You bastards who stole it from that party at my house in '95 better give that shit back!
Did you know Terence Trent D'Arby changed his name to Sananda Maitreya?

Movies:

La Haine, The Warriors, Blood In Blood Out, Spies Like Us, Endless Summer, Serenity, This is England, Some Kind of Monster, Casablanca, Pitch Black, Ready to Rumble, most of the Star Treks and Wars, Spaceballs & anything really stupid or very good.
You should go see This is England.

Television:

It's the American in me that makes me watch tv. Battlestar Galactica, Heroes, Little People Big World, CSI, you know, the usual. I would watch more tv if I had channel 105 or VH-1. But I don't.

Books:

I like reading, recommend me something.
bell hooks and Foucault, and surprisingly I enjoy articles on new wave subcultural theory.
I have been working on Joan Scott's article "The Evidence of Experience" for the last 3 years. I seem to be a little slow.

Heroes:

Grandma.
- my favorite rebel & activist.
My girls who get drunk and walk home alone at night.
Noam Chomsky, Lieutenant Uhura, Kaare Willoch, DJ Norge & the kids.
Any good person able to maintain their integrity. I often doubt they exist.

My Blog

Atchooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

Here, fishy fishy fishy...

I know that this is old news for most of you. But for my darling foreigners this might be newsworthy. I went into Mickey D's last weekend (Lars persuaded me to come after a somewhat rocky Friday night...

I still love America!

I went back to do some research. What I got done was amazing. And I added onto it my favorite parts of the East Coast. Now I don't know when I can come back, but I'm sure it'll be sooner rather than l...

No common denominator.

Everyday randomness.A dude hits you up for change by going "You don't even wanna hear my sob story, I got 14 baby mommas..." Something tells me that dude needs more than change to cover diapers alone....

More proof that sharks can fly

That's my brother checking out metal miracles. This outdoors exhibit was way better than Body Worlds II which we went to after. That stuff freaked me out and I ended up consoling little children...

Nightlife hazards

These days you have to hide in a corner all night to avoid being published on the internet. I'll be in my hoodie at the bar next time.
