About Me

Cat butt. I've been writing silly little songs since writing was an option for me.
I got my first real guitar when I was seven. It was orange and had the General Lee on it. It never stayed in tune. I learned to play the D chord.
I had a crush on Daisy Duke and Wonder Woman. I had a blue Wonder Woman lunch box with the sippy cup thermos.
I like short stories. Especially Pam Houston and Lorrie Moore.
I grew up mostly overseas. When we weren't overseas, we lived in the Deep South mainly. People can be so hateful and beautiful.
Laughing is my favorite contact sport.
Two dogs and two cats live with me. We all get along very well and take good care of each other, but I'm always picking up the poop.
I don't take my friends or any of the things I have for granted. I try to give thanks everyday.
I don't care that I'm getting a lot of gray hair at my age. I think it looks kinda cool. My mom says that will change.
I've started listening to my mom more and using sunblock... but only when it's really sunny. I don't care about my gray hair.
I had my heart broken once and that was enough.
People think I'm arrogant and cold. I know this because I've heard it, read it. I'm just really shy. Excrutiatingly. I know you know what that's like. Something I'm working on
If you smoke, please don't throw the butts out of your car window.
Thank you for coming to my shows and listening to my songs.
SOME PRESS
" (She) has a lot of fun onstage. Their sound is strong and clean, one can hear the lyrics, and the song, "Holier Than Thou" is awesome...their sense of humor is right on." The Feminist Review of LadyFest South Atlanta, April 2007
"The Blue Route by Michelle Burleson is a winner" American Songwriter Magazine Songwriting competition Oct 2006
"Hard rockin' band" The Washington Post, March 2007
"Sure there are many female artists on the charts these days, but how many can strap on a guitar that isn't a mere stage prop? How many can really cut loose on wailing leads and pounding drums and do some serious damage to the loose paint on the walls?" The Washington Post, April 2005
"No more beating around the bush, our new favorite band is BOX. "The Band of Busy Beavers" has busily created the wonderful tune "Mullethead Girlfriend." How can you not love that?" The Washington City Paper, July 2006
