After capturing 7 Busch series wins in less than 3 full seasons, Kenseth joined Roush Racing and Dewalt Power Tools in 2000 to compete Full Time in the Nextel Cup series. In 2000, Matt became the 1st rookie in history to Win the Coca Cola 600. That same year, Matt went on to Win the "Rookie of the Year" Award. Following a 5 Win season in 2002, the number 17 Dewalt team captured the 2003 Cup Championship. Kenseth entered victory lane twice in 2004 before winning Nascar's annual All Star Race and finished 8th in the Inaugural Chase for the Championship.
