The Codgers were formed and brought to life by the English singer Carl Garratt from Leicester. Carl got to see a lot of the world during his time with the British army, playing in various bands in Europe, Africa and Canada and one thing that he learnt is how the game is played and how to have fun.
In Germany/Hanover he began his search for the best of the best for his new project whom he found in:
Northern Germany's most dangerous drummer - Dirk Godenrath who he met in the USA. Dirk („Band von Weihnachten“) was at the time studying music in LA and was now luckily back in Hanover and had just finished a stint with a band called „geteilten Köpfen“or in English the "split heads. Kalle Kammlage singer and guitarist of a well known German Punk Band "Kennzeichen D“ joined the Band, followed by the lead guitarist Thomas Hasenau "Band von Weihnachten“ and Mr. unavoidable, Stefan Frenken on his old Rickenbacher Bass completed the line-up.
Their style, orientation and an independent British label were soon found and new stuff recorded played and tested.Playing gigs at Hanover Rockt, Faust, Emergenza-Song-Contest, Bad, Fährmannsfest, Chez Heinz and loads of other smaller events they polished up their act:
The band rocks and rolls like hell but don't lose on melody which makes you feel like getting your air guitar out of the closet to do a bit of posing whilst enjoying lyrics.Internationally the band can be found and heard by BFBS radio and loads of terrestrial radio stations on the daily play lists.
Nevertheless The Codgers belong solely on stage. Now with a new show and new management they are concentrating on Project 2007/2008 Releases:- One Giant Step - Double Compilation Album (2004)

The Codgers play their own songs mixed with cover songs from the older generation e.g. “Sex Pistols, Ramones and the modern generation Foo Fighters, Green Day†of punk and rock. The guys and gals of the audience are forced to dance, drink and have fun. The surprising thing about The Codgers is that the amazing power on the CD's is topped live. The reason for this is quite simple; the band lives on stage because this is where they belong. Party from the first to the last accord!
